The purpose of this internship is to apply AI and automation to modernize and enhance efficiency in biostatistics and statistical programming workflows. The intern will explore opportunities for automation and innovation to advance the integration of emerging technologies into core biostatistical and statistical programming operations.
Work Model:Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.
Responsibilities:- Apply AI and automation to improve efficiency and quality within biostatistics and statistical programming workflows.
- Build, prototype, and document AI-enabled tools targeting high-impact areas within biostatistics or statistical programming workflows.
- Collaborate with biostatisticians and programmers to validate outputs and refine prototypes.
- Present findings and prototypes to department leadership at the end of the summer.
- Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field.
- Strong Python skills with exposure to AI/ML concepts or tools through coursework, projects, or research.
- Familiarity with Git or version control practices.
- Familiarity with Python-based GUI frameworks or web application tools is a plus.
#U.S. Hourly Wage Range:
- $30.00-$40.00 per hour. The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s education level.

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
