As an Interactive Visualization Engineer, you'll develop graphics, animations, and applications for AR/VR, collaborating with team members to support design processes and improve software pipelines.
General Description:
The HRL Visualization Group is seeking a full-time, software engineer to help build a variety of graphics, animations, and applications — from software generated 3D models, to physics simulations, to system monitoring (+UI/UX), to AR/VR development and deployment. You’ll be collaborating with designers, researchers, and other software engineers in the Computational Physics Department. While the role has a technical focus, we seek a candidate that’s excited to be a part of the prototyping and design process. The ideal candidate is a whiz with custom software development, will represent technical (engineering) perspectives in the Visualization Group, and will help realize builds of creative applications — from prototyping, to QA, to deployment.
Essential Duties:
Writing custom software to:
Help to build out a pipeline for the development and deployment of an AR/VR visualization (developed in Unity).
Support/lead development for a pipeline that converts 2D (CAD) design files to 3D models.(via a Python code base)
Develop a shader-based system for running pulse sequences in our 3D visualizations (Blender).
Support the creation of system monitoring tools via User Interface (UI) and real-time status visualization development and user testing(Python/web dev).
-General software development, QA and bug fixes.
Required Skills:
Coursework or experience in one or more of the following:
Software development
Proficiency with Unity 3D and custom software development (C#).
Proficiency with Blender or a similar 3D modeling platform (experience with Python is a plus).
Proficiency with MS Office suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Required Education:
Minimum 3 years completed of a design, media arts, or related undergraduate program
Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position $76,530 - $93,320 + bonus + benefits.
