New York Life Investment Management is seeking a Senior Leader to join its Insurance Solutions team. Reporting to the Head of Insurance Solutions, this individual will serve as a strategic partner in building and scaling the firm's insurance solutions business. Working in close partnership with the Head of Insurance Solutions, this person will help shape product strategy, design investment structures, develop new structures and solutions, and coordinate execution across the NYLIM platform. The role requires close alignment with the New York Life General Account (OCIO) and collaboration across NYLIM's affiliate investment managers and key business partners. The individual will bring an open minded and entrepreneurial approach to developing solutions across asset classes, structures and geographies, with a particular focus on opportunities where insurance investment solutions can be further developed in Europe and Asia.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Head of Insurance Solutions to develop and execute the long term strategy for the insurance solutions business.
  • Work alongside the Head of Insurance Solutions to design investment solutions that address insurers' investment, capital, accounting, liquidity and regulatory objectives.
  • Partner with the Head of Insurance Solutions and the New York Life General Account (OCIO) to identify portfolio needs and develop scalable solutions for external insurance clients.
  • Collaborate with NYLIM affiliate managers to identify, package and commercialize investment capabilities for insurance clients.
  • Partner on a broad range of structuring opportunities, including rated feeders, collateralized fund obligations and other structured vehicles, secondaries, credit insurance and customized investment solutions.
  • Evaluate opportunities to structure solutions at the underlying asset level as well as at the fund, portfolio and vehicle level, with a focus on creating efficient and scalable outcomes for insurance investors.
  • Work with affiliate investment teams to adapt existing strategies into insurance specific offerings and explore new structures where existing products do not fully address client needs.
  • Partner with distribution and affiliate leadership to identify opportunities to bring existing capabilities to market through differentiated insurance offerings.
  • Help identify and develop opportunities across global insurance markets, including Europe and Asia, where regulatory frameworks, capital requirements and market dynamics may create attractive opportunities for innovative insurance solutions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of insurance investment regulations and capital frameworks and apply that knowledge to solution design and structuring. Familiarity with global insurance regulatory regimes is highly valued.
  • Collaborate with legal, tax, compliance, operations and product teams to develop and launch new solutions.
  • Support client engagements in partnership with the Head of Insurance Solutions by articulating solution design, structuring considerations and implementation requirements.
  • Serve as a connector across investment teams and business functions to help build a scalable global insurance platform.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in insurance investments, institutional asset management, product strategy or investment structuring.
  • Deep understanding of insurance company portfolios, statutory accounting, capital requirements and insurance regulation.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance regulatory and capital frameworks, with experience or familiarity across U.S. and global markets. Experience with European and Asian insurance markets is a plus.
  • Experience designing institutional investment structures and customized client solutions, including experience with structured investment vehicles or asset level structuring.
  • Knowledge of investment vehicles including separately managed accounts, commingled funds, rated feeders, collateralized fund obligations, feeder funds, insurance dedicated funds, secondaries and other insurance oriented structures.
  • Understanding of credit insurance and the role it can play in developing investment solutions for insurance investors.
  • Strong understanding of private markets, fixed income, structured credit and multi asset portfolios.
  • Ability to approach structuring with an open minded and entrepreneurial mindset, with a willingness to explore new vehicles, asset classes and solutions as client needs evolve.
  • Experience working across multiple investment teams and asset classes to develop integrated solutions.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, collaboration and execution skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively across multiple teams and affiliates.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship management skills.
  • Interest in working across global markets and developing solutions for insurance clients in North America, Europe and Asia.

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $200,000-$275,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
