As an Executive Director, Insurance Risk Oversight in Business Banking Risk, you lead the second-line risk oversight framework for Business Banking’s Insurance activities and provide dedicated coverage across broader governance, monitoring, and risk oversight priorities. You will set and evolve oversight expectations, define monitoring and escalation routines, and drive transparent reporting that enables timely identification and governance of material risks. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong judgment, executive influence, and the ability to operate independently across a broad set of stakeholders. Success requires strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to connect teams and deliver scalable solutions in emerging and evolving risk areas.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead second-line oversight for Business Banking Insurance activities across products, distribution, servicing operations, and customer outcomes
- Oversee carrier relationships and third-party arrangements, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and governed appropriately
- Design and maintain risk indicators and monitoring routines that provide forward-looking visibility into key risk themes
- Establish reporting frameworks, escalation criteria, and governance forums to support effective risk decisioning and transparency
- Drive issue-management practices, including identification, assessment, escalation, tracking, and remediation governance
- Advance governance and oversight capabilities to support business growth, evolving risk profiles, and changing regulatory expectations
- Set clear risk expectations for emerging products, fraud risk initiatives, and business-led growth opportunities
- Provide credible challenge and independent perspective on complex initiatives, balancing risk, customer outcomes, and scalability
- Partner with Product, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Controls, and business stakeholders to inform key decisions
- Represent Business Banking Risk in governance forums, regulatory engagements, audits, and independent reviews
- Translate complex risk and control topics into pragmatic, scalable actions and communications for senior audiences
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in governance, oversight, controls, compliance, risk management, or related disciplines within financial services
- Demonstrated expertise building or leading governance/oversight frameworks, monitoring programs, and risk management practices
- Proven experience operating as a senior individual contributor and influencing outcomes without direct authority
- Strong capability to navigate ambiguity, establish expectations, and deliver credible challenge across complex initiatives
- Track record of influencing senior stakeholders across large, matrixed organizations
- Ability to rapidly develop domain expertise (including emerging areas) and connect stakeholders across organizational boundaries
- Executive-level communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to assess risk themes, root causes, and control effectiveness
- Sound judgment and professionalism, with the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment
- Experience engaging in governance routines (e.g., forums, escalations, issue governance) and driving consistent follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Experience supporting insurance products, distribution models, carrier relationships, or related governance frameworks
- Experience in Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Consumer Banking, or other financial services businesses
- Experience establishing monitoring, escalation, reporting, and issue-management frameworks in a second-line or independent oversight context
- Experience supporting new products, emerging business initiatives, or building scalable second-line oversight capabilities
- Breadth across risk domains, such as product risk, fraud risk, operational risk, or third-party risk
- Familiarity with regulatory examinations, audit activities, and control environments
- Experience leveraging analytics, automation, or AI-enabled capabilities to strengthen governance and oversight
