Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Industrial Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Industrial Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in El Segundo, CA.
The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in El Segundo. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will include:
- Analyzes lead times, queue times, work-in-process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently
- Builds scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints
- Develops optimized scheduling tools and aligns SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints
- Incorporates complex interdependencies within a system to account for the interaction of multiple cost centers, programs, equipment, and tools
- Communicates requirements planning and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams
- Works with developers to design an interactive user interface that will be effective at scheduling jobs across cost centers
- Guides digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies
- Leads and drives positive change using iterative and agile methodologies
- Creates new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance
- Complete time studies and follow through with action items resulting from the study
Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 2):
- Bachelor's of Science degree with 1 year of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment; OR a Master’s of Science degree with 0 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment
- Minimum 1 year of experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications e.g. Excel, Tableau, etc.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System)
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access
- Ability to travel at least 10%
Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 3):
- Bachelor's of Science degree with 4 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment; OR a Master’s of Science degree with 3 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment; OR a PHD degree with 0 years of Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing production environment
- Minimum 1 year of experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications e.g. Excel, Tableau, etc.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System)
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access
- Ability to travel at least 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree preferred
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
- At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading project teams
- Experience with SQL, VBA, Python or other programming languages
- Experience with improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling, or simulation methods
- Experience with agile methods of project management or development
- Strong experience designing visualizations in Tableau in a professional work environment
