Indirect Services Technology Specialist
Caterpillar is seeking a strategic technology specialist with a passion for innovation to advance modern capabilities in indirect procurement systems. This is a high-impact role for someone enthusiastic about emerging technologies, enterprise systems, and data-driven decision-making. The incumbent will architect and deploy technical capabilities such as generative AI, serverless architecture, and automated testing.
This position provides application, business process, and technical leadership for Indirect Procurement Applications Including Coupa, GEP Smart, and Beeline. They will engage with business partners to understand goals, major releases, and upgrades of all related systems and implement technology to enhance business capabilities. The selected candidate will be responsible for driving new capabilities through the software lifecycle process. The incumbent will also have responsibility as a data architect for Caterpillar's facility data to drive data-driven decisions for Caterpillar's growing need for office space.
What You Will Do:

• Lead service delivery for a team driving the development of system interfaces and automation solutions, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.
• Manage service performance for a dedicated quality assurance team, focused on delivering high standards in software testing and product reliability.
• Evaluate, prioritize, and deliver system enhancement requests to improve functionality and user experience.
• Deploy technology solutions that ensure full alignment with regulatory compliance standards and controls.
• Implement complex solutions and engage with different segments of the business to meet overall business objectives (Business, Infrastructure, ERP, Saas provider, etc)
• Proactively identify areas of improvement and deploy innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and quality.
• Support Caterpillar's enterprise data strategy in both the indirect procurement and facilities data domains by acting as a data architect.
• Oversee the implementation and management of Coupa and GEP platforms for indirect procurement across the global Caterpillar enterprise, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational excellence.

What You Have:

• Position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business, or related field, or relevant experience
• Experience developing or supporting IT applications.
• Analytical, problem solving, and project and technical leadership skills.

Core Application Systems:

• Manages application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
• Evaluates key interfaces and interdependencies among core applications systems.

Problem Solving:

• Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
• Use varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
• Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
• Develop successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.

Requirements Analysis:

• Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.
• Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.

System Testing:

• Verifies the proper flow of transactions across all input, output and storage channels or devices.
• Evaluates interoperability of new systems with existing systems during the beta testing phase.
• Designs processes to ensure that the system meets and maintains requirements and expectations.

Technical Troubleshooting:

• Discovers, analyzes, and resolves hardware, software, or application problems.
• Oversees calls related to product features, applications, and compatibility standards.
• Analyzes code, logs, and current systems as part of advanced troubleshooting.

IT Service Management (ITSM):

• Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) service; ability to manage IT services and oversee service operations.
• Promotes the use of standard procedures in each function of IT services.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

• Experience working with Coupa.
• Effective communicator, in written and oral form, with English language fluency
• Business engagement skills
• A broad knowledge of one or more applications and infrastructure components
• Procurement, Financial Systems, or Internet of Things (IoT) experience
• Experience working with IT Controls/Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

• Location for this role is Peoria, IL, Dallas, TX or Nashville, TN
• This role requires 5 days onsite.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
