Own inbound on-time delivery and cost for domestic and international vendor shipments into two fulfillment centers. Lead carrier relationships and negotiations across five freight modes, validate freight invoicing, enforce vendor delivery accountability, align planning and buying, and partner with Product/Engineering to automate reporting and workflows.
The summary above was generated by AI

What the Role Is

Babylist moves more than $100 million in annual transportation spend, and inbound volume is on track to double. Today inbound and outbound sit under one small team, and on-time delivery is running at 57%. We’re splitting the function so inbound gets a dedicated owner for the first time.

You’ll own on-time delivery performance and cost for everything moving from our vendors, domestic and international, into both fulfillment centers. You’ll lead carrier relationships across five freight modes, run QBRs and contract negotiations alongside procurement, validate freight invoicing, and partner with Product and Engineering to replace manual spreadsheet tracking with real dashboards and automated workflows.

Fully remote. Roughly 15% travel, including quarterly visits to our fulfillment centers.

Who You Are

  • Deep international trade experience across ocean and air freight, including customs documentation and trade compliance.
  • Proven carrier negotiator across LTL, TL, Intermodal, Ocean, and Air, including contract terms and quarterly business reviews.
  • Track record of moving an underperforming on-time delivery metric, not just reporting on it.
  • Fluent in TMS platforms, carrier portals, invoice auditing tools, and appointment scheduling systems.
  • Comfortable building your own views in Sigma, Snowflake, or equivalent rather than waiting on someone else’s report.
  • Able to align planners, buyers, DC leaders, vendor compliance, and engineering without direct authority.
  • You're genuinely excited about what AI can do - not just as a concept, but as something you want to get your hands on. At Babylist, every team uses AI daily, and we're looking for people who lean in.
  • If you want a finished playbook to execute, this isn’t it. The inbound roadmap is still being written and you’ll be writing it.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • On-time delivery — own inbound on-time delivery performance to both fulfillment centers across domestic and international vendors.
  • Carrier management — lead carrier relationships, contract negotiations alongside procurement, and quarterly business reviews across all five freight modes.
  • Freight cost and invoicing — validate freight invoices, audit carrier charges, and manage transportation chargebacks.
  • Vendor delivery accountability — run the vendor portal for shipment visibility and partner with Vendor Compliance on lead times.
  • Planning alignment — coordinate PO ETAs and delivery windows with Planning and Buying.
  • Automation and reporting — partner with Product and Engineering to define the metrics and build the dashboards and workflows that replace manual spreadsheet tracking.
  • Inbound strategy — build carrier performance baselines and shape the inbound roadmap as volume doubles.

Why This Role

  • Inbound volume is doubling, and this is the first dedicated owner of it. The scope grows as you build it.
  • On-time delivery sits at 57% today. You’re walking into a measurable problem with obvious room to move it.
  • You’ll spec the tooling rather than inherit it. Product and Engineering are ready to build what you define.
  • Over $100 million in annual transportation spend runs through this function, so your carrier and cost decisions land directly in planning and merchandising.

$116,200 to $139,400 + target bonus and competitive equity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
