Position Overview: Seeking a highly motivated manager to manage Plansee’s U.S. import program to ensure company compliance with international trade compliance laws and regulations, primarily including, the laws and regulations administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).This role will work closely with Legal, Compliance and within the U.S. businesses to enable business success and ensure integrity while achieving regulatory compliance and protection of national security interests. Applicant may support U.S. export compliance requirements and collaborate with Plansee DDTC Empowered Officials. Applicant must meet the legal requirements for serving as a DDTC
Empowered Official.
Responsibilities Would Include:
- Implement and manage a comprehensive import framework including a uniform import trade compliance policy for Plansee’s U.S. entities to ensure compliance with U.S. customs and trade regulations and requirements.
- Oversee the operational processes for assuring trade compliance review and approval relating to all imported shipments under U.S. law (including but not limited to developing and managing controls and procedures associated with entry, classification, valuation and country of origin of imported or exported raw materials, finished products and equipment).
- Develop and conduct training on internal controls and legal requirements to comply with import obligations under U.S. laws. Liaise with Legal, Export Trade Compliance including DDTC empowered officials, and the Business segments to provide strategic guidance to support import and export compliance obligations.
- Implement action for resolution of import compliance problems, questions, or complaints. Conduct periodic audits of business units relating to their import compliance with company import compliance policy. Maintain trade compliance records in accordance with U.S. regulatory requirements.
- Support new process requirements across the business including training and communication regarding relevant updates and interpretations of U.S. import regulations. Establish and maintain relations with appropriate government regulatory agencies. Generate performance metrics for import processes. Collaborate with and support Export Compliance/DDTC empowered officials, as needed. Any and all other job duties as assigned to trade-related support.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- University degree in a business-related discipline, ideally in compliance, logistics, procurement/supply chain management, international relations, law, engineering or economics.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the domain of customs/global trade (customs, and/or trade compliance). Operational experience in import operations and risk management.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. import laws and regulations.
- Must meet the legal requirements to act as the Empowered Official pursuant to 22 C.F.R. 120.67.
- Knowledge and experience in U.S. export laws and regulations is preferred. Background with manufacturing and metals companies preferred. Must be a US Person. Availability for travel (30%).
