Human Resources Generalist
This position is responsible for, under the direction of the HR Department Head, supporting human resource practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, and standards, security of data, and goal attainment. This is achieved through the ongoing development of the workforce.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; immigration; productivity; event planning and execution; recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
- Implements new hire orientation.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources (or advanced certificates in Human Resource management) preferred; (Combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability).
- At least one year of human resource management experience
- Current experience with broad, up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and practices; training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, and safety preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for all levels of an organization
- Excellent level of accuracy and detail-orientation; well organized
- Ability to influence and educate management on policies and best practices
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; advanced knowledge of Excel a plus
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems
- Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workload to meet key deadlines
- Ability to perform the job in accordance with specific procedures, but must set priorities, organize, and make occasional exceptions
- Strong analytical skills are required to gather and interpret data

Work Environment – Office
Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and exposure to hazardous materials used in the manufacturing process.
PPE
Steel-toe shoes/boots are required in defined areas in manufacturing locations.
Physical Demands – Office
This position requires the ability to talk and listen. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
