About the position:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, HRIS administration, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and managers while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws. 
Qualifications:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, leave programs, employee relations, and other HR-related matters.
  • Administer and maintain employee records, personnel files, documentation, and HRIS data to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Manage employee offboarding, employment status changes, job changes, reporting changes, and related documentation in coordination with HR leadership and appropriate departments.
  • Support employee relations matters by conducting intake, gathering facts, documenting concerns, participating in initial investigations, and partnering with HR leadership on appropriate resolutions.
  • Coordinate and administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, CFRA, PFL, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation-related leaves, and related tracking through the HRIS system.
  • Administer benefits programs, including enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment support, benefit audits, employee education, and vendor coordination.
  • Support performance management, employee development, corrective action, disciplinary documentation, and performance improvement processes in partnership with HR leadership and management.
  • Monitor and support compliance with federal, California, and local employment laws, wage and hour requirements, company policies, mandatory notices, and required HR documentation.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve HR workflows, forms, templates, checklists, and processes within Paylocity and other HRIS systems.
  • Prepare HR reports, audits, metrics, compliance documentation, employee data analyses, and recurring HR dashboards as requested.
  • Assist managers with employee coaching, policy interpretation, documentation standards, attendance concerns, and workforce planning support within the scope of Human Resources.
  • Coordinate employee recognition, engagement, wellness, culture, and retention programs in alignment with company goals and HR initiatives.
  • Support safety initiatives, workers’ compensation administration, injury reporting, claim follow-up, return-to-work coordination, and participation in the Safety Committee.
  • Assist with policy development, handbook updates, policy communications, acknowledgments, implementation, and employee education.
  • Coordinate required employee training, compliance reminders, policy acknowledgments, and completion tracking.
  • Assist with internal HR communications, employee notices, organizational announcements, and department-level HR updates.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, reports, presentations, letters, forms, and other documentation as requested.
  • Support special HR projects, compliance initiatives, employee programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Conduct routine HR file audits, benefits audits, leave audits, and HRIS data integrity reviews to support accurate records and compliance readiness.
  • Track HR deadlines, compliance requirements, employee status changes, required documentation, and follow-up items to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information, employee relations matters, medical information, and sensitive company records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2-5 years of HR experience or 
  • Substantial (3-5+) years of progressive Human Resources experience with a SHRM certification.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, HRIS administration, and HR compliance activities, preferably using Paylocity or a comparable HRIS platform.
  • Experience preparing HR documentation, reports, employee communications, and compliance-related materials.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite and other business applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), preferably Paylocity.
  • Working knowledge of federal and California employment laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of leave administration, benefits programs, employee relations, performance management, corrective action, workers’ compensation, and HR compliance practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply HR policies consistently, appropriately escalate sensitive matters, and exercise sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in employee-related situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Pay Range$ 90k - $98k / yr.
