This position will be hired within the Kansas City metro and report into the Leawood office 2-3 days per week.
The HR Business Partner will provide Human Resources support for our rapidly growing Information Security company. This role is responsible for aligning human resources strategy and service with business objectives in designated business areas and/or functional organizations. In this job, you will serve as a consultant to leadership on human resource-related issues and implement initiatives to ensure Optiv attracts, develops, and retains a best-in-class workforce.
How you'll make an impact
- Work directly with Optiv’s leadership teams and employees in their assigned business units on all people strategy initiatives
- Act as a sounding board and coach to business managers; provide them with exceptional HR support, advice, guidance, training, skills and tools to pro-actively manage their teams successfully
- Help to drive completion of work with business leaders in areas such as performance management, organizational design, succession planning, career pathing, etc.
- Guide managers through the performance management process and employee coaching conversations in order to enhance employee performance and engagement
- Administers and presents engagement survey and 360 feedback surveys; facilitates focus groups to develop action programs and improvements
- Co-facilitates training for employees, managers and other trainings as needed
- Provide consultation to managers on HR related issues including guidance around policies and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance
- Advocate for our company culture. Ensure culture is the central tenet in the choices we make and the advice HR provides to the company in maintaining a culture of accountability and trust
- Lead the implementation of HR programs, policies, and practices by way of communications planning, project management, data gathering, analysis and reporting
- Partners with other areas of HR to determine defined career progression aligned to compensation using external and internal market data. Researches and recommends contemporary compensation practices in partnership with the HR compensation team
- Responsible for the HR data / reporting needs of the team, using computer applications such as Excel, Power Point, Human Resource Information Systems, and general database and reporting management knowledge. Distribution of standard line of business reports, communicate with the HRIS department to ensure team has the data necessary for both routine and ad hoc reporting, or projects in order to solve business challenges
- Participate in broader projects across the HRBP team and/or HR organization
- As any position, other tasks, requests and projects may be assigned to support the business needs

- Bachelor's degree required and General human resources experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Basic understanding of employment law
- General analytic and problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to approach each scenario from all perspectives
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Familiarity with HRIS systems or reporting tools
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
