Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Manager / HR Business Partner to provide seamless coverage during a leave of absence. This role is responsible for maintaining continuity across core HR operations and strategic partnership, ensuring a high-quality employee experience and consistent support to leaders. The ideal candidate brings strong generalist capability, sound judgment, and the ability to quickly integrate into an existing team and business environment with minimal disruption. 

Key Responsibilities 

HR Business Partnership & Employee Relations 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, and organizational matters  
  • Provide guidance on employee concerns, investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation  
  • Support retention strategies and promote a positive, inclusive culture  

Employee Lifecycle Management 

  • Oversee end-to-end processes including hiring support, onboarding, internal movements, and offboarding  
  • Partner with managers to ensure effective integration and success of new hires  
  • Facilitate new hire HR orientation and manage onboarding activities 
  • Manage terminations with appropriate documentation, compliance, final pay and employee experience considerations, and conduct exit interviews 

Performance Management & Engagement 

  • Support performance review cycles, goal setting, coaching conversations, and manager training initiatives  
  • Assist in engagement initiatives, employee surveys, and action planning  
  • Monitor employee sentiment and recommend improvements to engagement and culture  

Payroll & Benefits Administration (health & wellness, retirement accounts) 

  • Administer payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing, including data validation and issue resolution  
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries  
  • Support open enrollment  
  • Support 401k record keeper transition and set up 

HRIS & Data Management 

  • Maintain and update HRIS data integrity across employee records, organizational changes, and reporting structures  
  • Generate regular and ad hoc HR reports (headcount, turnover, metrics, etc.)  
  • Leverage data to provide insights to HR leadership and business stakeholders  

Leave of Absence and Reasonable Accommodation Administration 

  • Administer and track leaves (FMLA, CFRA, disability, etc. ), ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations  
  • Manage reasonable accommodation requests, including the interactive process, documentation, and implementation in compliance with the ADA and other applicable laws 

Compliance & Policy Administration 

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state (including California), and local employment laws  
  • Maintain and apply HR policies and procedures consistently  
  • Support audits and compliance-related reporting  

Special Projects & Operational Support 

  • Support ongoing HR initiatives, process improvements, and special projects as needed  
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve employee and manager experience  

 Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including HRBP, HR Manager or People Ops roles  
  • Strong working knowledge of employee relations, employment law, and HR best practices  
  • Experience supporting California-based employees and multi-state environments preferred  
  • Hands-on experience with payroll processes and benefits administration  
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Rippling, Employee Navigator, or similar)  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment  
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in HR data reporting and insights  
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and time management 
  • Fluent in applying AI  to streamline and automate HR process, workflows & reporting

 Additional Information 

This is a temporary role intended to ensure continuity of HR support during a leave of absence. The position may require flexibility based on business needs during the coverage period.
