Position Overview
The Remote HR Assistant provides vital administrative support to the parish’s Human Resources and Administrative teams. This role helps maintain personnel records, support onboarding and volunteer processes, assist with compliance documentation, schedule HR-related meetings, and ensure smooth communication across staff and ministries.
The ideal candidate is organized, discreet, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information. Experience in HR support, church operations, education, or nonprofit environments is a plus.
This position is fully remote, but candidates in Florida or familiar with parish life are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee and volunteer personnel files
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes (document collection, scheduling, orientation follow-up)
- Assist with background checks, compliance requirements, and policy acknowledgments
- Coordinate HR-related communications, including reminders, notices, and training updates
- Help track certifications, required forms, and annual parish compliance tasks
- Schedule staff meetings, HR check-ins, and training sessions
- Provide general administrative support to HR leadership
- Assist with job posting updates, application tracking, and interview scheduling
- Prepare HR documents, templates, and digital forms
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all personnel information
- Help maintain organized digital systems and HR databases
- Support parish staff and ministry leaders with HR-related questions and administrative needs
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience in HR assistance, administrative support, or clerical work
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with cloud-based tools (Google Workspace, Office 365, etc.)
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Reliable internet connection and personal computer
Preferred:
- Experience in church, school, nonprofit, or ministry-based HR
- Familiarity with HR software or applicant tracking tools
- Understanding of volunteer screening and compliance processes
- Knowledge of basic HR principles and confidentiality standards
