Summary

We’re looking for a strategic and results oriented Head of Tax and Treasury to lead MongoDB’s global Tax and Treasury functions as we scale. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this leader will shape  and execute our global tax strategy, oversee compliance with domestic and international tax laws, and oversee the company’s capital structure, liquidity, and financial risk profile. This is an exciting opportunity to help MongoDB define a best in class function. 

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with sound business judgment and a track record of scaling high-performing teams in fast-paced, SaaS environments - helping MongoDB continue our culture of Building Together. This role will also partner closely with cross-functional teams and leaders across Accounting, Legal, FP&A, HR, and beyond to support company-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities

Tax

  • Lead and scale the global Tax function; including planning, compliance, reporting, and audits
  • Develop and execute global strategies that optimize MongoDB’s effective tax rate and support our business goals
  • Manage the preparation, review, and approval of global tax payments, corporate income tax returns and all related filings
  • Oversee the preparation of interim and annual tax provisions under ASC 740 including all financial statement disclosures and compliance with internal controls
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors 
  • Proactively monitor and interpret changing tax laws and communicate potential impact on the company to executive management
  • Experience and capability to communicate effectively with senior management on the implications to operations and strategy to support the company’s tax structure and goals
  • Ability to build a world-class tax team and optimize between internal and external resources
  • High level of executive presence and ability to be a spokesperson internally and externally to drive the MongoDB narrative

Treasury

  • Lead global Treasury operations, including cash management, forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization
  • Drive strategic financial risk management, including currency, interest rates and counterparty risk while ensuring alignment with the companies risk appetite and business goals 
  • Manage banking relationships and ensure the availability of credit facilities and appropriate financing structures
  • Oversee debt, share buy back and capital market activities; lead financing initiatives as needed
  • Implement scalable treasury systems and controls, improving automation, visibility, and accuracy in cash positioning, reporting, and risk management
  • Ensure compliance with treasury-related internal controls and reporting standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, FP&A, and Accounting to ensure treasury and tax strategies are embedded into broader business planning and execution
  • Build a world-class treasury team that can drive results and “see around corners” to effectively scenario plan and develop action plans to react to ever-changing external conditions

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Tax and Treasury functions, including leadership roles; ideally within high growth, technology/SaaS companies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation preferred
  • Big 4 experience required 
  • Prior experience running a Treasury team and interacting with outside banks
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, US federal and state tax regulations, and experience with international tax laws & compliance
  • Ability to articulate complex tax and treasury matters to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Strong experience implementing treasury management systems with an eye for efficiency and understanding of implications to other financial systems & controls

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:
$162,000$318,000 USD
