An opportunity to join an exciting, well-funded and fast-growing creator economy business.

Electrify is a dynamic new digital media company that invests in and scales creators with an established YouTube presence. We have invested in various leading channels and The Rundown is one of the leading channels in our portfolio.

The Rundown is the world’s largest AI community, informing millions of people around the world about everything going on in AI, why it matters, and how you can apply it. Come and build the future of media with us!

About the role

As Head of Sales at The Rundown, you'll own our entire ad revenue engine across newsletters, podcast, social, and newsletter takeovers. Your job is to build a real sales organization - own the revenue plan, rebuild packaging and pricing, close strategic multi-product deals yourself, and build the team. You'll report directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the sales team: Cover when team members are out, and progressively hire additional salespeople when needed.

  • Own the revenue plan: Build and manage our annual revenue forecast across all inventory types. Own CRM implementation, pipeline hygiene, and weekly revenue reporting.

  • Rebuild packaging and pricing: Develop our rate card across newsletters, podcast, takeovers, and social. Package inventory smartly (bundles, tiers, annual commitments).

  • Close strategic and multi-product deals: Handle large enterprise accounts and multi-brand packages personally, handing off to other key salespeople.

  • Own strategic partnerships: Lead deals for perks, co-marketing, and cross-portfolio partnerships.

  • Run sales weeklies: Lead weekly syncs, report progress toward KPIs, flag bottlenecks, and bring new monetization ideas to the CEO.

Skills and experience

  • Sales leadership experience: You've built or scaled a sales org at a media, newsletter, podcast, or creator business. You've managed reps, built rate cards, and closed $100K+ deals yourself.

  • Newsletter or creator media background: You understand ad-supported media economics - CPMs, sell-through, inventory management, sponsor renewals. Bonus if you've sold at a newsletter, podcast, or creator business.

  • Strategic closer: You can handle a CMO call and walk out with a multi-product annual commitment, not a one-off placement.

  • Builder, not just manager: You're excited to go from 1 salesperson to a team of 4-5, including hiring specialists for adjacent inventory.

  • Systems-oriented: You think in pipelines, dashboards, and forecasts. You'll implement a CRM and actually use it.

  • High trust with founders: You'll work closely with the CEO on packaging and pricing strategy. You're comfortable pushing back and bringing ideas, not just executing.

Electrify Culture

  • Dynamic environment - We are dedicated to providing a world-class creative culture where our employees can thrive. We’re looking for self-starters with an entrepreneurial mindset who want to be part of our success story. You’ll discover new opportunities, take ownership of important initiatives and learn at a fast pace.

  • Work anywhere - We are a remote team with employees around the world. This means you are free to work from anywhere with a good internet connection.

  • Our Values – We are committed to fostering a culture that values innovative, diverse ways of thinking and the ability to drive positive change. DEI is in our DNA, and our DEI Committee and Social Hub initiatives reflect this commitment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
