Job Description
Managing Director, Infrastructure & Operations is responsible for core infrastructure platforms for the firm. This role will oversee multiple functional areas including servers, storage, databases, virtualization, networking, engineering services and labs, data centers and infrastructure operations. By driving continuous improvement in service delivery and cost, this role will promote a customer-centric organization culture and a service-oriented mindset focused on expanding technology infrastructure capabilities and delivering scalable, secure, and agile technology infrastructure.
The candidate must possess a history strong technical leadership in a similar environment and a proven record of accomplishment for delivering highly successful transformations.
The candidate must also have exposure of Managing and leading global teams.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPOSIBILITIESLead, implement and maintain a comprehensive strategy for secure, scalable, high availability and cost-effective on-premise and global technology infrastructure.
Lead, implement and maintain a program for continuous improvement in service delivery, agility, automation and cost efficiency of all Technology Infrastructure services and processes.
Lead transformation from on-premise to cloud infrastructure for core services and applications.
Implement 24x7 support across all Ares office locations globally.
Define and monitor operational metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Benchmark where possible against the market. Lead a continuous improvement mindset within the Technology Infrastructure organization related to operational metrics and KPIs.
Increase adoption of incident/problem management, capacity management and availability management in partnership with key stakeholders.
Lead the development and evolution of technology standards to achieve business objectives.
Partner very closely with the Information Security team to deliver a highly secure infrastructure.
Establish the systems and processes to ensure business continuity in the event of natural disaster, system failures and other events which could disrupt business.
Support the integration of acquisitions by leveraging a repeatable scalable model.
Build and manage financial plans and budgets (CAPEX and OPEX).
Manage vendor relationships and drive vendor negotiations.

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree OR equivalent
10-12 years of experience in information technology performing global roles
Experience Required:
5+ years of infrastructure team leadership experience
10+ years of relevant technical experience working in Infrastructure and operations preferably in the investment management industry.
Strong experience designing and architecting high availability On-prem datacenter and cloud infrastructure to meet 5 nines across core services related to Storage, Compute, Network, Internet, Email, File servers
Strong engineering background and experience managing datacenter server hardware with high availability, Cisco networking, Storage vendors (Netapp preferred), VMWare, PaloAlto firewall infrastructure
Experience with transformation to public cloud infrastructure, software defined networking, and Infrastructure as a Service models.
Demonstrated experience leading transition of support and operations to a globally distributed team including offshore captive centers.
Experience with security risk management and current security technologies
Proven experience with modern technology service delivery frameworks including Agile, DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous deployment.
Proven success in leadership demonstrated by the ability to build, develop and retain high performing and highly effective teams.

History of being a company-wide global change-agent that influences strategic actions and mindset changes.
Established leadership abilities with an emphasis on collaboration and executive stakeholder management to gain their confidence and support.
Proven influencing and consultative skills with the ability to partner with and engage at multiple levels within Ares, service provider and vendor organizations.
Large-scale project leadership and delivery using modern project management methodologies.
A continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated ability to drive programs that reduce cost, increase agility and have measurable key performance indicators and metrics.
Solid global people leadership capabilities including guiding and coaching team members when required, developing talent, and ensuring accountability for project and service level commitments.

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$320,000 - $375,000
