HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Hardware development engineers are the go-to problem solvers at Long Wall. They are versatile – working in the lab as often as at their desk and owning products ranging from fluid manifolds and tubing systems to primary structure to avionics enclosures. Regardless of their focus, they take their products from concept to delivery, owning every aspect along the way.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Total ownership of Long Wall engineering products, from ideation through design, manufacturing, qualification, and field support.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in any engineering discipline from an accredited university AND
- 5+ years of industry experience in a related design or development role.
- Master's degree AND 3 yrs of experience
- Ph.D and no experience
OR
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proficiency in CAD design software (e.g., NX, CATIA, CREO/Pro-E).
- Strong analytical capability using hand calculations and finite element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN).
- Firm understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and DFM principles.
- Ability to develop scripts in Python or MATLAB for automation and analysis.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics.
- Strong understanding of compressible/incompressible flow dynamics and thermodynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to write and execute test procedures for complex hardware operations.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills for design reviews, test plans, and system documentation.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
- Ability to pick up to 50lbs
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
ITAR Requirement
This position requires access to information protected under US export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations. As such, US person status (including US citizens, U.S. permanent residents, individuals granted U.S. asylum status, or individuals admitted in U.S. refugee status) is a required qualification for this position.
