At Carrum Health, we have built a unique marketplace for specialty care with unparalleled patient experience

Since 2014, we have been rewiring a fundamentally broken healthcare system. By connecting large employers directly with the nation's top-tier providers, our platform replaces a flawed fee-for-service model with one that actually works. If you are passionate about solving complex economic problems, driving systemic change in our healthcare system, and thriving in a people-first culture, we want you on our team. As a high-growth health tech company, we are seeking high-performing, exceptional talent to scale our platform and ensure that anyone in the country facing a specialty procedure has access to the life-changing Carrum benefit.

Our marketplace creates massive value for all stakeholders:

  • For Employers (Demand): Predictable, transparent pricing that slashes specialty care costs by up to 45% and eliminates waste

  • For Providers (Supply): Ability to gain market share while reducing administrative burden, empowering top-tier doctors to focus completely on delivering optimal care.

  • For Members (Users): A life-changing benefit with dedicated concierges, VIP access to the nation's best specialists, and little-to-no out-of-pocket costs.

The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $210,000 depending on geography and level of experience, plus equity and an annual bonus.

We are looking for a Growth Director to help us steward and scale our surgical & emerging service lines. This is a critical role for our business.

Reporting to the General Manager of the service line you will own the translation of business unit strategy into operational workflows across functional teams and be crucial in providing strategic leadership leverage to the GM; helping us ensure that our surgical and emerging service lines scale efficiently while maintaining deep domain expertise and market leadership. You’ll be responsible for acting as the primary SME internally and externally, enabling cross-functional teams to be self-sufficient, and holding decision authority to make judgment calls on what’s best for the various initiatives under your purview that will help grow and scale the business. You’ve hustled, you’ve created, you’ve implemented, and you love the intensity of a startup in high-growth mode.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Identify and prioritize growth, utilization, and profitability initiatives, and own day-to-day tactics, trade-offs, and decisions under the guidance of the General Manager.

  • Lead those initiatives end to end, driving cross-functional teams to deliver results for the service line.

  • Maintain deeper, service line (SL)-specific analyses and metrics, building on the standard cross-SL reporting maintained centrally; analyses will drive actionable insights, surface trends and issues, and drive resolution

  • Build scalable operational workflows and optimized clinical service pathways, partnering with Care and Product teams to shape the patient experience that drives utilization.

  • Partner with Sales, Account Management, Operations, Clinical, BI and Technology Product teams to bring the service line to market: advise on opportunities, join client conversations as needed, build team enablement, and own customer-facing operational escalations.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in client, consultant, and market-facing meetings, educating external partners, including benefits consultants and employer clinical experts, on Carrum’s care model and value proposition

We’re excited about you because…

  • You bring a rich background of business and operational expertise, preferably understanding the healthcare member journeys, provider operations, and payer/employer dynamics. We hope to see from you:

  • Strong skills working with cross-functional teams to translate overarching strategy into executable, self-sufficient workflows.

  • 8+ years of healthcare, value-based care, digital health, or health plan experience (healthcare or technology company preferred).

  • Experience in partnering with, educating, and supporting external benefits consultants, employer buyers, and clinical/business SMEs.

  • Track record in deploying complex growth and operational initiatives in fast-paced environments.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking to new or challenging market edge cases and exercise sound, autonomous decision-making authority.

  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful — you’re a problem solver.

  • Experience handling deadlines, keeping many balls in the air, and prioritizing work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Passion for collaborating cross-functionally with sales, operations, client success, data, and product teams to ideate, complete projects, and drive impactful results.

Why you’ll love working with us...

  • We’re a hard-working, humble, and compassionate group motivated to solve the hard problems in healthcare today. You’ll work with talented, experienced co-workers from companies like Booz & Company, Teladoc, Hinge Health, Accolade, Angi, and Optum.

  • We champion a collaborative environment where team members can be autonomous, receive support and healthy feedback, and bring their authentic selves to work.

  • We carve out time to celebrate our successes and have fun. We’re a remote-first company with employees all over the United States. We offer holistic employee support with flexible working hours, generous time off, paid parental leave, opportunities to connect virtually and in-person, and more.

  • We embrace our team’s diversity of thought, experience, and interests and know that doing so makes us stronger as a company. Carrum has an active employee-led Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) committee alongside several employee resource groups (ERGs) that support parents, women, and various underrepresented groups.

  • You’ll feel proud that the work you do each day directly impacts people’s lives in big and meaningful ways.

  • Carrum is remote-first, but we believe the best work often happens in person. This role may include occasional travel for team offsites, client events, or company gatherings.

Other benefits:

  • Stock option plan and performance bonus for eligible employees

  • Flexible schedules and remote work

  • Chicago and San Francisco offices available as an option

  • Flexible PTO, within reason

  • Summer Fridays (sign off @ 1pm local time)

  • 15+ paid holidays, including Juneteenth, World Mental Health Day, and Carrum Health Day

  • Annual holiday shutdown in December

  • Paid parental leave

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance

  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

  • 401K retirement plan

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
