Growth Marketing Lead - Strategic Initiatives

Location: Los Angeles, Hybrid
Compensation: $125,000 - $145,000 annually (depending on experience)

About the Role

SprintRay is looking for a Growth Marketing Lead to help build the growth engine behind a high-priority strategic initiative being incubated within the company. This is a unique opportunity to build from the ground up with the resources and infrastructure of an established global organization.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership to shape how the initiative goes to market, acquires customers, and scales what works. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone equally comfortable setting direction and executing the work.

Initially, this is a player-coach role. You’ll personally own much of the execution rather than inherit a large team or agency structure. As the business grows, you’ll help build the marketing team around what works. We’re looking for an operator who moves quickly, tests before overbuilding, spends thoughtfully, and cares about measurable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Build the Growth Engine

  • Own the growth strategy from first customer touch through acquisition, conversion, repeat purchase, and retention.

  • Translate business objectives into clear campaigns, experiments, KPIs, and execution plans - then scale what works.

  • Partner closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to move quickly from idea to market.

Lead Generation & Performance Marketing

  • Build and own the lead-generation and customer-acquisition engine across paid search, paid social, retargeting, organic, partnerships, and emerging channels.

  • Personally launch and optimize campaigns, landing pages, lead capture, nurture, segmentation, and conversion paths.

  • Own performance across CAC, CPA, conversion rate, MQLs/SQLs, pipeline, and revenue contribution.

  • Run disciplined tests across audiences, creative, offers, messaging, and landing pages to continuously improve lead quality and acquisition efficiency.

  • Partner with Sales and commercial teams to ensure strong lead flow, follow-up, and conversion to revenue.

Ecommerce & Conversion

  • Build and optimize the ecommerce experience as a commercial growth platform - not simply a website.

  • Own merchandising, product pages, promotions, checkout conversion, and the end-to-end customer journey.

  • Use customer behavior and analytics to improve conversion, repeat purchase, and overall customer value.

Email, Lifecycle & Retention

  • Own email and lifecycle programs across acquisition, nurture, launch, onboarding, retention, reactivation, and repeat purchase.

  • Build segmentation, automated journeys, triggered campaigns, and ecommerce flows using CRM and behavioral data.

  • Continuously test messaging, offers, timing, and audiences to improve conversion, retention, and revenue.

Social & Content

  • Use organic and paid social as both a brand-building and customer-acquisition channel.

  • Create and test social-first content with customers, creators, Key Experts, and industry voices that earns attention and drives action.

  • Build community and connect social performance to traffic, leads, conversion, and revenue - not engagement alone.

Website, Search & Digital Experience

  • Build and optimize landing pages, campaign experiences, and ecommerce content directly within the relevant platforms.

  • Support SEO and SEM strategy to capture demand while continuously improving conversion through analytics and CRO.

  • Stay current on CMS, ecommerce, analytics, automation, AI-enabled tools, and digital workflows that improve speed and performance.

Analytics, Testing & Optimization

  • Establish clear reporting for acquisition, CAC, CPA, conversion, pipeline, ecommerce performance, retention, and ROI.

  • Use data to decide where to invest, where to stop, and what to test next.

  • Translate insights into immediate action and maintain clear accountability for marketing investment and business outcomes.

Build, Then Scale

  • Start as a hands-on operator who can execute across the core growth stack without a large internal team.

  • Use SprintRay resources, contractors, freelancers, and outside partners selectively where they create real leverage.

  • As the business grows, identify the capabilities to bring in-house and help recruit and lead the future marketing team.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep understanding of demand generation, paid media, landing pages, ecommerce, and conversion optimization.

  • Strong command of customer acquisition economics, including CAC, CPA, conversion rates, attribution, and ROI.

  • Hands-on experience with email marketing, lifecycle marketing, marketing automation, and CRM-driven segmentation.

  • Strong working knowledge of organic and paid social, email/lifecycle marketing, SEO/SEM, and modern content dynamics.

  • Ability to operate at both strategic altitude and execution depth.

  • Strong creative judgment paired with commercial and analytical discipline.

  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and making decisions without perfect information.

  • Resourceful and willing to solve problems directly rather than defaulting to additional headcount or agencies.

  • Strong cross-functional communicator who can work effectively with senior leadership while still operating independently.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in growth marketing, digital marketing, ecommerce, performance marketing, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated success building lead-generation and customer-acquisition programs that contributed directly to pipeline or revenue.

  • Hands-on experience managing paid search and paid social campaigns across multiple platforms.

  • Proven ability to build and optimize landing pages, conversion journeys, nurture programs, and digital campaigns.

  • Experience with email marketing, CRM, and marketing automation platforms such as HubSpot or similar.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience measuring CAC, CPA, conversion rates, attribution, and ROI.

  • Experience running structured A/B tests and using performance data to improve campaigns.

  • Demonstrated ability to personally execute while also setting strategy and priorities.

  • Experience operating in a fast-moving, high-growth, entrepreneurial, or build-from-zero environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on Shopify experience, including product pages, merchandising, promotions, ecommerce analytics, and conversion optimization.

  • Experience building or scaling an ecommerce or direct-to-customer business.

  • Experience with HubSpot and Salesforce or similar CRM and marketing automation platforms.

  • Experience in B2B2C, technology, healthcare, medical devices, dental, or another technical product category.

  • Experience working with creators, influencers, Key Experts, or customer advocates.

  • Experience supporting the launch of a new product, category, business line, or brand.

  • Previous experience as an early marketing hire or helping build a marketing function before a full team was in place.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
