$150,000 base + commission + equity

You've already scaled paid acquisition and SEO. Now you want your next chapter to help accelerate science.

AnswerThis has helped over 600,000 researchers accelerate their research by more than 10 times by automating research workflows. We're hiring someone to help many more researchers discover what they can do with it.

We're looking for a marketer who has turned paid ads into a substantial source of customers, ideally personally managing more than $500,000/month in ad spend. You've also built SEO into a meaningful acquisition channel and can show the business it brought in.

You still launch the campaigns and ship the pages yourself. And you want to work at the frontier of AEO: how people discover and choose products through AI answers.

The work
  • Scale paid acquisition. Run campaigns across Google, Meta, LinkedIn and other channels that earn their place. Own creative tests, targeting, landing pages, tracking and budget decisions. Know how acquisition cost changes as you increase spend.

  • Grow organic acquisition. Ship useful content, comparison pages, tools and technical SEO improvements. Connect that work to activated researchers and paying customers.

  • Build AEO early. Test how researchers discover AnswerThis through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI answers and other emerging surfaces. Find what brings qualified users, implement it and measure the result.

  • Improve the funnel. Follow people from first visit through signup, activation and paid conversion. Fix the campaign, page or experience that is holding growth back.

  • Find the next channel. Discover opportunities before they become obvious to everyone else. Get an experiment live, learn quickly and scale what works.

What you bring

You've scaled acquisition across multiple paid platforms and can explain your own decisions: the budget, audience, creative, economics and result. Ideally, you've personally managed more than $500,000/month in ad spend. Spending that amount is useful experience; the customers and revenue you acquired are the proof.

You've also substantially scaled acquisition through SEO. You can show what changed from the baseline, what you built and how it contributed to the business.

You're comfortable working directly in ad accounts, analytics, landing pages and automation tools. You can write copy, fix tracking, launch tests and get useful work live without a large team around you. You use AI to expand what you can build and test, and check the output carefully.

AnswerThis culture

We respect scientific acceleration. We want researchers spending more time investigating important questions and less time on repetitive work. That mission should matter to you.

We're trying to win in a resource-constrained environment. You'll have real ownership, limited resources and problems that don't come with instructions. Choose your bets carefully, ship, listen to users and be honest about what the numbers say.

We value a tendency to win: taking initiative, following through and finding another approach when the first one fails. You'll be expected to stay ahead of changes in acquisition and turn what you learn into work we can use. You'll have the chance to own channels before other teams discover them.

You'll work closely with the founders and product team, with ownership of the acquisition results.

Apply

Send your profile and one paid acquisition result and one SEO result. For each, include the company, baseline, timeframe, outcome and what you personally implemented. For paid, include the monthly budget and platforms. Existing case studies or a few bullets are enough; redact confidential information.

Include your location and when you'd consider a full-time move. We're aiming to make this hire by September 20.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
