Job Title:  Grounds Supervisor

Department:  Grounds

Reports To:  Director of Operations

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt
Current Hourly Rate: $31.00 per hour, increasing to $33.50 per hour effective October 1, 2026.

Please note that Long Beach Amphitheater employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement with Unite Here Local 11, and union membership is a condition of employment.

Long Beach AmphitheaterGrounds & Cleaning Operations (Unite Here Represented Environment)Position Summary

The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, cleanliness, appearance, and maintenance of the Long Beach Amphitheater grounds and public areas while supporting a positive, safe, and respectful work environment. This position supervises represented Grounds and Cleaning team members in partnership with operational leadership and in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements, company policies, safety standards, and venue expectations.

The Grounds Supervisor ensures the facility maintains a high standard of cleanliness, presentation, operational readiness, and guest experience before, during, and after concerts, festivals, community events, and other venue activities.

This role requires strong leadership, organization, communication, attention to details and strong scheduling experience and labor relations awareness in a fast-paced live entertainment environment.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
  • Supervise daily groundskeeping and cleaning operations throughout the amphitheater and surrounding public areas.

  • Coordinate staffing assignments, work schedules, breaks, and operational coverage based on event activity and venue needs.

  • Conduct pre-event, event, and post-event inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.

  • Ensure all grounds, walkways, seating areas, plazas, entry points, restrooms, back-of-house areas, and exterior spaces are maintained to venue standards.

  • Monitor waste removal, recycling efforts, pressure washing, landscaping coordination, and general facility presentation.

  • Assist with event conversions, emergency response preparation, weather-related operations, and special projects as needed.

Team Supervision & Labor Relations
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, direction, and support to represented Grounds and Cleaning employees.

  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.

  • Support compliance with the applicable Unite Here collective bargaining agreement, company policies, and workplace procedures.

  • Maintain professional working relationships with union representatives and employees.

  • Participate in attendance monitoring, documentation, coaching conversations, and operational follow-up in coordination with Human Resources and department leadership.

  • Ensure fair and consistent application of operational expectations and workplace standards.

Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety practices, OSHA compliance, and proper use of equipment and chemicals.

  • Conduct safety walkthroughs and address hazards in a timely manner.

  • Ensure employees utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain compliance with environmental, sanitation, and public safety standards.

  • Support incident documentation and reporting procedures when necessary.

Inventory & Equipment
  • Monitor inventory levels for cleaning supplies, equipment, tools, and operational materials.

  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and report repair needs promptly.

  • Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals and cleaning materials in accordance with safety standards.

Guest & Event Support
  • Respond professionally to operational concerns and guest-related issues.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Security, Engineering, Event Management, and other departments to support successful event execution.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and guest-focused environment that reflects venue excellence.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of supervisory experience in facility operations, housekeeping, groundskeeping, stadium, arena, amphitheater, convention center, hospitality, or entertainment venue operations preferred.

  • Experience working in a unionized environment strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, grounds maintenance practices, and event operations.

  • Ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees, guests, vendors, and leadership.

  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA standards preferred.

  • Basic computer proficiency including email, scheduling, and reporting systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and event-driven, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to operational demands. This position regularly works around large crowds, live entertainment productions, cleaning equipment, and outdoor conditions.
