Greenskeeper

Reports to: Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent

The Greenkeeper is responsible for performing a variety of tasks involved in the maintenance, upkeep, and overall condition of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This position plays a key role in ensuring top-quality playing conditions by supporting daily mowing, trimming, bunker raking, and other cultural practices as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.

• Perform daily mowing of greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using walk-behind and riding mowers.
• Rake and maintain bunkers to consistent standards.
• Edge, trim, and blow debris from turf and landscaped areas.
• Assist with course set-up including tee markers, hole locations, and hazard marking.
• Operate small equipment including utility vehicles, blowers, and trimmers.
• Perform sod installation, seeding, topdressing, aerification, and other turf cultural practices.
• Assist with irrigation setup, hand watering, and minor repairs.
• Maintain tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
• Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE as needed.
• Report any issues or abnormalities to supervisory staff promptly.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in golf course or landscape maintenance a plus but not required.
• Ability to safely operate small machinery and hand tools.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods, often on uneven, wet, or sloped terrain.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (e.g., bags of sand, seed, sod, fertilizer, and equipment) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to push, pull, and maneuver mowers, utility vehicles, rakes, and other hand tools and equipment.
• Ability to operate walk-behind and riding mowers, utility vehicles, trimmers, and blowers for extended periods, including in a seated position.
• Regularly required to use hands and fingers to grasp, handle, and control tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Requires repetitive motion, including raking, edging, trimming, and shoveling.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception, particularly when operating mowing equipment near hazards, cart paths, and play areas.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and direct sun exposure, for most of the workday.
• Exposure to fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals used in turf maintenance, following all required safety protocols and PPE.
• Exposure to loud noise from power equipment.
• Ability to work early morning hours, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Must be able to safely operate motorized equipment, including mowers, utility carts, and small machinery.

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily outdoors on golf course grounds, with regular exposure to variable weather conditions, moving equipment, and mechanical/chemical hazards typical of turf maintenance operations.
