This role is critical in managing the procurement of electrical components, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the electrical industry, experience working with major suppliers, and the ability to collaborate with sales engineering and project management teams. This position requires a proactive individual with strong forecasting skills, supply chain management expertise, and the ability to handle special procurement items in coordination with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Procurement and Vendor Management:

  • Source and procure electrical components, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, including major industry players.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to optimize procurement processes.
  • Manage and oversee procurement activities for India and China supply chains when necessary, ensuring compliance with company standards and timelines.

Industry Knowledge and Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the electrical industry, including familiarity with technical terms and specifications (e.g., 3000:5 revenue grade metering, CT/VT combos).
  • Work closely with sales engineering teams, supporting project management.

Supply Chain, Inventory Management and Forecasting:

  • Own and manage supply chain for electrical components.
  • Develop and maintain accurate forecasting and inventory models to anticipate procurement needs and avoid shortages or delays.
  • Oversee inventory management processes, including Giga’s Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system, ensuring optimal stock levels through proactive planning and coordination.
Requirements

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in electrical component procurement, preferably within the energy or data center industries.
  • Proven track record of working with major electrical component suppliers and establishing strong vendor relationships.
  • Experience managing international supply chains, particularly in India and China.
  • Familiarity with technical specifications and industry terminology (e.g., CT/VT combos, revenue grade metering).

Availability:

  • Willingness to be on-call outside regular work hours as needed.

Skills:

  • Strong work ethic and sense of ownership of products and projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
