Job Description

The Global Industry Marketing Director for Oil & Gas owns the marketing strategy and execution for one of IFS's key industry verticals. The role reports into Corporate Marketing but carries full accountability as a member of the Oil & Gas leadership team - bridging central marketing capability with commercial go-to-market execution.

The right candidate has in-depth understanding of the Oil & Gas industry: how operators, EPC contractors, and OFS companies make technology decisions, how buying cycles work, and what a credible IFS value proposition looks like in that context. They are a builder - comfortable setting strategy, developing demand generation programs and getting into the detail of execution - and they know how to align marketing investment directly to pipeline and revenue.

This is a senior role with real commercial ownership. It requires someone who is equally at ease presenting to the leadership team and rolling up their sleeves on a campaign brief. The role spans multiple geographies and time zones, so confidence operating in a global, matrixed environment - aligning regional teams, navigating different market dynamics, and building relationships across cultures - is essential.

The candidate will own the development and execution of Oil & Gas marketing plan globally and work on a variety of programs and actively contribute to the success of the Oil & Gas industry. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Define, own, and execute a global marketing strategy and annual demand generation plan that directly supports the growth in the Oil & Gas industry and go-to-market objectives.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global marketing team; own and manage the Oil & Gas marketing budget, allocating investment across programs to maximize pipeline contribution and return.
  • Own the content strategy and production of high-impact assets - thought leadership, solution messaging, webinars, event toolkits, and digital content - to support customer acquisition and pipeline goals.
  • Define and execute an account-based marketing (ABM) strategy for priority target accounts, in close partnership with the sales and business development teams.
  • Enable business development, account management, and regional marketing teams for key demand generation campaigns - providing clear campaign kits covering audience targeting, messaging, channel mix, execution steps, and success metrics.
  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance - MQLs, SQLs, and pipeline creation - sharing dashboards with stakeholders to drive continuous optimization.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to sharpen IFS Cloud's Oil & Gas value proposition; own the Oil & Gas pages on ifs.com, optimizing for SEO, AEO, user journey, and pipeline conversion.
  • Apply AI-powered tools across the marketing workflow - content creation, campaign personalization, analytics, and reporting - to improve output quality and team efficiency.
  • Lead IFS's presence at priority sector events (ADIPEC, ONS, CERAWeek, OTC, IFS Unleashed, IFS Connect) and manage Oil & Gas analyst relations with Gartner, IDC, and relevant industry bodies.

Qualifications

There is a 10–25% travel requirement as needed.

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrable experience marketing to, or working within, the Oil & Gas industry
  • Proven track record in B2B enterprise software or SaaS marketing - ideally within ERP, EAM, FSM, or adjacent domains.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English - including the ability to craft compelling executive narratives, present with confidence to senior leadership, and adapt messaging across audiences and formats.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization, demonstrating a global mindset-able to navigate diverse cultures, collaborate across regions, and adapt marketing strategies to different international markets.
  • Proven ability to utilize AI-driven marketing technologies and platforms to enhance campaign performance, streamline content development, and automate workflows in B2B environments
  • Strong leadership and alignment skills across sales and marketing.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with enterprise MarTech and CRM platforms (e.g., Hubspot, Demandbase, SiteCore, Writer, Canva) and the ability to evaluate and govern their use at scale.
  • Knowledge of the competitive enterprise software landscape in Oil & Gas (SAP, Oracle, ABB, AVEVA, or adjacent vendors).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
