If you’re a detail-oriented post-production pro with strong organizational skills, experience conceptualizing scrappy, creative edits, and a deep understanding of outdoor culture and active lifestyles, we’d love to hear from you.

This is an evergreen opportunity—not an open staff role or permanent job posting—to join our trusted roster of freelance video editing talent for a variety of upcoming projects across our family of brands. As new assignments arise, we reach out to freelancers whose skills and experience align with the needs of each project. Responsibilities

  • Edit engaging, original video content for one or more of our brands—such as Outside, Backpacker, Yoga Journal, Triathlete, RUN, SKI, Climbing, Pinkbike, Velo, and others.
  • Design motion graphics and/or customize graphics templates to bring visual interest and clarity to videos.
  • Collaborate with producers, videographers, and editorial staff to bring quick-turn visual stories to life.
  • Implement feedback to refine pacing, tone, and storytelling structure.
  • Ensure all videos align with brand aesthetics, editorial goals, and platform-specific standards.
  • Add stock imagery, music, and sound design as needed to enhance the final product.
  • Maintain organization in file management and versioning workflows across cloud and local systems.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience editing short- and medium-form videos for digital platforms (outdoor, fitness, or lifestyle brands are a plus).
  • Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to bring narratives to life through pacing, visuals selection, color grading, motion graphics design,, and sound design.
  • Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects and Canva are a bonus).
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage feedback in a remote, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with vertical and horizontal video formats, social-first content, and best practices for video on different platforms.
  • A genuine passion for the outdoors and for helping more people experience it through impactful visual stories.
