We’re Jubilee Media.

At Jubilee, we're on a mission to provoke understanding and create human connection. We explore experiences that push people to feel more, think more, and see more in others. We challenge the belief of a black-and-white world, and instead embrace the complexity and richness of our experiences. By magnifying these stories we can discover personal identities, shared truths, and how we fit in the overarching human story. People are at the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for the next passionate teammate to join us on this journey. Together, we have the power to shift perspectives—and maybe even change the world.

About This Role
As a Freelance Director at Jubilee, you’ll collaborate with our creative and production teams to bring our most engaging political and social formats to life. We’re looking for bold, high-performing creatives who are excited to direct conversations around politics, culture, and the issues shaping how people see the world through formats like Surrounded, Middle Ground, Face Off, Roundtable, etc.
This role requires a strong understanding of all aspects of production, the ability to communicate a clear creative vision, consistent creative ideation, an eagerness to learn, and a positive, solutions-oriented mindset. Most importantly, we’re looking for directors who are genuinely curious about people, politics, and culture—and know how to turn complex topics into compelling, human stories.

What You’ll Do

  • Direct videos on set for our existing hit debate and discussion formats
  • Ideate on creative ways to improve upon our existing formats to increase video performance
  • Research and develop thoughtful, compelling prompts across politics, current events, culture, global affairs, etc.
  • Organize and plan production according to a schedule (casting, coordinating, producing)
  • Communicate with our team on what resources are needed and actively find your own resources.
  • Off production notes and suggestions to guide our post team
  • Debrief with our team on the successes and learning points from production
  • Support our casting team and prepare cast for production

Who You Are

  • 3-5 years of directing experience, ideally in the YouTube / digital media spaces
  • A strong storyteller who knows how to turn political and social topics into compelling, human conversations
  • A creative thinker who can bring fresh ideas to existing formats
  • Experienced across production and comfortable owning everything from creative kick off through shoot execution
  • Politically and culturally curious

Compensation & Perks

  • Project Compensation  – approximately $1,000 per episode (we batch shoot!)
  • Catered lunches
  • Dynamic and fun team environment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
