JOB DESCRIPTION

The Big Ten Network is seeking a Freelance Digital Designer to join their team remotely. As the Freelance Digital Designer, you will produce and deliver digital graphics with a primary focus on live social media coverage of Big Ten athletic events on the West Coast. You will work within the Digital Department.

This is a freelance position (September-May) offering up to 40 hours per week. This position will report to the Director, Creative Services, and will preferably be based in Los Angeles.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to West-Coast live event coverage by updating existing templates and assets to produce graphics for BTN’s social channels – with a focus on timely delivery, accurate information and smart creative decisions
  • Provide flexible design support for frequent and close collaboration with the Digital department’s live posting team
  • Create custom high-impact thumbnail art for BTN’s YouTube channels to help video content stand out on the Home/Search/Browse/Suggested features to boost engagement and click-through
  • Design thumbnails for features and specialized content – “The Journey,” “Crossover” series, and beyond with potential to ramp up production and refresh thumbnails for key sports highlights and weekly recurring studio programming
  • Help produce marketing communications artwork for BTN’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform, B1G+, with a focus on templated platform-specific assets supporting the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) team

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 2+ years of experience producing digital graphic content; accustomed to the speed of daily design production
  • Production/editing experience with intercollegiate athletics programs or professional sports teams
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including regular evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strategic deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to be detail oriented, proactive, and a team player
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and other graphics production tools
  • Deep knowledge of Big Ten Athletics and familiarity with Big Ten Network’s programming, talent, and brand initiatives
  • Affinity for pop culture/emerging trends, particularly on YouTube and video-first platforms

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $25.00-30.00 per hour.
