This is not a back-office role — you will act as the CFO for your business unit, deeply embedded with product, strategy, and go-to-market teams to drive growth and efficiency. You’ll own financial strategy, planning, and performance analysis while serving as a key business partner to vertical leadership.
This is a highly visible role ideal for someone with strong SaaS finance expertise, deep business acumen, and a passion for working cross-functionally. While this role is not a people manager initially, there is room for future leadership opportunities.
Areas of Accountability:
Business Unit Finance & Leadership
  • Serve as the primary finance leader for assigned healthcare vertical(s)
  • Serve as the primary finance leader for a defined functional department
  • Own financial forecasting, planning, and reporting
  • Be accountable for P&L performance through variance analysis, trend identification, and strategic collaboration
  • Develop a deep understanding of products, margins, and drivers within the P&L
  • Partner closely with all functionals including vertical product leaders, and go-to-market teams, and G&A functions
  • Present financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership
Strategic & Product Support
  • Collaborate with product and strategy teams to support roadmap decisions and performance evaluation
  • Lead financial modeling for new products, features, and monetization initiatives
  • Champion financial rigor in strategic decisions including investments, prioritization, and resourcing
Go-to-Market & SaaS Metrics Ownership
  • Analyze and improve key SaaS metrics like:
    • SaaS Magic Number
    • Marketing Efficiency Ratio (MER)
    • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
    • Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
    • Time to Value (Bookings to Billings)
  • Lead efforts in pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies to optimize revenue and margin
Reporting & Analysis
  • Drive customer-level and cohort analysis to uncover growth and retention opportunities
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly performance reviews with business unit stakeholders
  • Democratize data through reporting and dashboarding (Power BI, Tableau, SQL)
Process & Infrastructure Leadership
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting tools, and planning workflows
  • Build and maintain scalable forecasting and planning models using Adaptive Insights and Excel
  • Prepare Board and investor-ready financial packages tailored to business unit insights

Competencies for Success:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus)
  • 7+ years of finance experience, ideally in a SaaS or technology environment
  • Strong understanding of FP&A best practices, financial modeling, and operational KPIs
  • Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and Tableau for data analysis and visualization
  • Experience with ERP and EPM tools such as NetSuite and Adaptive Insights
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
  • Self-starter who operates independently, manages multiple priorities, and communicates proactively
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and storytelling skills, with a persistent curiosity to uncover insights
  • Passion for building, improving, and owning processes and reporting infrastructure

At PracticeTek we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine our offers of employment. This includes internal and external market factors as well as your individual experience and skills. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
