About the Role
Bedrock is in our second year of commercialization and scaling our financial and operational foundations to support growth; accordingly, this FP&A Lead who will mature our financial planning, project-based accounting, and capital strategy across multiple capital types. This role will be central in building disciplined financial systems, equipping leadership with actionable insights, and ensuring our financial model supports both judicious company operations and product-driven technoeconomic analysis. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on yet strategically discerning finance leader with excellent communication skills to other functional leaders. Excitement about and experience with equipment-intensive, construction-related clean energy deployment is a must.
As the first in-house finance hire, you will take ownership of our FP&A function and report directly to the CEO. This strategic role will require you to be a self-sufficient architect of financial systems, processes, and budgets, sometimes from the ground up. You will take on some of the Controller role, orienting Bedrock’s financials for strategic communication suitable for a future Series B fundraise. While you will oversee our outsourced accounting firm, you should be prepared to roll up your sleeves to handle budget modeling and improve the structure of our accounting.
Responsibilities
Maturing Financial Accounting & Forecasting: Structure books with project-based accounting and lease accounting practices in line with compliance standards; own and continuously refine our financial model in tight collaboration with the CEO
Financial Controls for Scale-up: Implement financial controls, monthly close and variance reviews, monthly and annual budgeting cycles with functional leaders
Working Capital Strategy: Assess, negotiate, and optimize equipment financing and leasing arrangements, and lead early-stage exploration of infrastructure/project finance structures
Technoeconomic Analysis: Partner with the Product team to ensure our books can be used for streamlined technoeconomic analyses.
Strategic Analysis & Messaging: Provide actionable insights to executive leadership on company performance, strategic tradeoffs, and capital allocation; own financial dashboards and reporting to functional decision-makers
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or investment banking; experience in capital-intensive, project-based businesses strongly preferred.
CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred but not required.
Deep experience with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and working capital management, with a proven track record of implementing financial systems and controls in a high-growth or scaling environment.
Autonomy and proactivity are a must, but also with exceptional collaboration skills for partnering with cross-functional colleagues (Product, Operations, and Engineering teams on financial problem-solving and strategy) and clear communication skills for interfacing with investors
A "roll-up-your-sleeves" execution mentality is essential; positive, “yes if” mindset with a bias towards action; proactive and resourceful problem-solver with the ability to drive to consensus while maintaining healthy interpersonal respect and empathy for different viewpoints
Early-stage start-up experience with building FP&A functions from the very basics, as well as with multiple venture fundraises.
Familiarity with equipment financing, leasing structures, and infrastructure/project finance basics.

Salary:
Base salary of $160,000-180,000 plus equity
