Our client is a well-established provider of insurance and insurance operations solutions, delivering tailored services and cloud-based platforms that help carriers and MGAs modernize operations and scale efficiently. With deep industry expertise and proprietary SaaS offerings, Team Focus enables clients to streamline underwriting, policy administration, claims management, and customer engagement — turning complexity into growth.
While insurance is the company’s core business, digital systems and integrations play a key role in driving operational efficiency and future scalability.
Role SummaryAs the Founding Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll be the first full-time engineer driving the development of new internal and external technology solutions. You’ll help modernize core workflows, build integrations with key partners and carriers, and scale tech capabilities from zero to one. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of technology at a mission-critical business unit where tech is an enabler — not the product itself.
You’ll report directly to the hiring manager and collaborate closely with business, product, and operations leaders.
What You’ll DoLead the design and implementation of new full-stack applications that support insurance operations and product teams.
Build, extend, and maintain integrations between internal systems and third-party services, carriers, and insurtech partners.
Architect backend services, APIs, and business logic with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
Build frontend features with clean UI/UX that enhance internal productivity or partner/customer workflows.
Translate business needs into high-quality technical solutions while anticipating future scale challenges.
Participate in technical planning, code reviews, and documentation to establish engineering standards.
Help define tech roadmap priorities based on business value and operational impact.
5+ years experience in full-stack engineering with production applications.
Strong TypeScript experience with Node.js on the backend and React/Next.js on the frontend.
Proven track record of building integrations with third-party systems and APIs.
Comfortable leading zero-to-one development — from prototyping to production launch.
Experience with AWS-first infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, etc.).
Understanding of modern development workflows: CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and feature flagging.
Prior exposure to insurance tech or operations; familiarity with P&C insurance workflows.
Experience designing low-code or configuration-driven tooling.
Experience with cloud scaling patterns and distributed system design.
Comfortable working remotely and self-directing in fast-paced environments.

This is a foundational role — you’ll define how technology supports critical insurance and operational functions, influence future hires, and directly impact the company’s ability to innovate and scale. You’ll bring modern engineering practices into a business where tech systems are a competitive advantage, not just back-office tools.
Interested candidates should include a link to past projects or portfolio demonstrating full-stack architecture and integration experience.
