Job Description:

Join Broadcom's Physical Layer Products (PLP) group, a world-class team responsible for designing and supporting industry-leading technology found in millions of homes and businesses globally. We are seeking a highly skilled Firmware Engineer to join our embedded systems development team. 
In this role, you will architect, design, and implement low-level firmware modules, middleware, and diagnostic software for leading-edge optical PHY chipsets. You will work across the full development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive software design and development for new products while maintaining legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system, analog, and digital hardware designers.
  • Develop and troubleshoot complex firmware applications in embedded C.
  • Provide leadership in architectural governance, design patterns, and code hygiene.
  • Act as a technical ambassador to help recruit and mentor top engineering talent. 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s + 8 years of experience, Master’s + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years in a related field.
  • Proven expertise in C and ARM Assembly on embedded targets.
  • Strong understanding of real-time systems, multi-threading, and concurrent programming.
  • Experience with multiprocessor programming and inter-processor communication.
  • Hands-on driver experience (MDIO, I2C, SPI, etc.). 
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with ARM processor architectures.
  • Software development experience in Windows (Visual C++) and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of open-source licensing (GPL, LGPL, ASL) and proprietary software interfacing.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,000 - $172,800

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
