Job Summary (basic description)

A Manager within the Financial Planning & Analysis team will review, analyze, and evaluate the needs of our business partners and internal stakeholders to improve the firm’s profitability.  This position will work closely with the Senior Director of Finance, the Chief Financial & Strategy Officer, and other firm leaders to gain an understanding of our financial strategy, key focus areas, and business challenges.  The Manager will also be expected to be proficient in excel and continuously look for ways to improve our current processes and reporting.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Finance.

Essential Functions

  • Review, and finalize monthly and ad-hoc financial reports to be distributed to Firm Leadership, Business Services Department Leaders, and Practice Group Leaders
  • Develop complex financial modeling and KPI reports to display and recommend ways to improve profitability at the Firm, Office, Department and Practice Group level
  • Take a lead role in creating, reviewing, and finalizing the annual budgets for departments and offices regarding expenses, revenues and select metrics
  • Assist the Senior Director of Finance in a timely and accurate manner with reporting requests, projects, and be able to prioritize appropriately
  • Manage relationships with other business services areas, Office Managing Partners, Regional Coordinators, and Practice Group Leaders
  • Work with Regional Coordinators to discuss and develop appropriate action plans for relevant offices; including supplying appropriate financial data and supporting analysis
  • Lead and actively participate in multiple projects by completing and maintaining project documentation, managing project scope, adjusting schedules, determining daily priorities, and ensuring efficient and on time delivery of milestones
  • Work with designated team members across departments to develop/improve the financial reporting process
  • High level of organization with the ability to manage daily workload priorities and deliver quality results on time
  • Identify, create, and facilitate process design changes – with a focus on quality improvement and data management
  • Having a high degree of integrity and the ability to work with sensitive or confidential information
  • Manage relationships with third party vendors related to finance projects, including assisting in developing new financial backend cubes and the creation of new attorney facing financial and operational dashboards

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • 7+ years of relevant experience is required; Law Firm experience desired
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including data layout for large data sets, pivot tables, conditional formatting, advanced sorts, vlookups, marcos, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in recommending process improvements
  • Project experience preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Highly organized
  • Capability to learn independently
  • Positive attitude with ability to be flexible with different projects and varying workloads
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

For the Westchester and New York Metro area, the expected salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $170,000.   The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
