The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will join the Capital Markets Finance team providing financial support to OMERS Capital Markets (OCM) investment businesses with over $60 billion AUM. The incumbent will take a lead role in the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan, quarterly re-forecasts, monthly analysis of financial results, and management and board reporting, while providing general finance business partnership to OCM business units and supporting functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with executive leadership and senior management across OMERS Capital Markets (OCM), Capital Markets Finance (CMF), and Total Portfolio Management (TPM) to provide financial advisory support, help teams achieve financial targets, identify risks & opportunities, and drive high-quality financial performance analysis

  • Lead discussions and working sessions with senior business partners to prepare both detailed (line-item-level) and executive summary-level Annual Operating Plan outputs, providing insight, challenge, and advisory support throughout the process

  • Contribute to and project manage the preparation of quarterly deliverables, including board memos, Investment Committee performance scorecards, and Corporate Finance data requests

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in collaboration with other CMF and corporate financial reporting teams

  • Develop a deep understanding of key business drivers and performance attribution to effectively communicate financial results to key stakeholders through regular reporting and ad-hoc deliverables

  • Develop a deep understanding of the businesses’ G&A expenses such as people costs (compensation), third party vendor spend, and external fund manager fees to provide accurate expense forecasts and valuable insights and analysis

  • Prepare and review a variety of management presentations including budget vs. actual variance reports, trend analysis, KPI dashboards, etc.

  • Develop strong relationships with business partners and key stakeholders across the organization

  • Complete sensitive assignments at the direction of the VP, EVP, CFO and/or Business Unit Heads within tight time frames

  • Improve existing and design new processes to achieve operational efficiency

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching for a high-performing team

  • Lead and contribute to culture-enhancing initiatives within the broader Capital Markets Finance team

  • Lead and/or contribute to ad hoc initiatives and special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related working experience in progressively responsible positions

  • University degree plus an accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA)

  • CFA Charterholder (or working towards it) is an asset

  • Demonstrated capital markets knowledge and business acumen

  • Expert level technical skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trusting relationships at all levels including executive leadership

  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and strong people management skills

  • Strong analytical ability; able to clearly link financial results to strategic and operational activities

  • Ability to work with large data sets, glean insight, and present findings in a clear, simple, and concise manner

  • Experience with Anaplan and/or Oracle finance systems is an asset

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines

  • Strong team player with a positive attitude, willingness to help colleagues, and “go the extra mile”
