Job Title: Associate / Associate Partner  Financial Planning & Analysis - Insights

Location: US

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Augment Risk is a global capital risk solutions intermediary, partnering with clients to structure and place innovative solutions. We specialize in bespoke risk transfer strategies, leveraging deep expertise across geographies and disciplines, including Structured Reinsurance, MGA, ILS, Legacy, Parametric, and Captives. Our trusted, boutique approach combines agility, transparency, and creative thinking to deliver optimal outcomes for our clients.

The role:

As Associate / Associate Partner  Financial Planning & Analysis, you will build and scale the financial analytical intelligence capabilities that power decision-making across Augment Risk.  Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will translate raw financial and operational data into actionable insights, design self-service analytics infrastructure, and partner across the organization to uncover opportunities that drive growth and efficiency.  You will collaborate closely across organization to move beyond retrospective reporting to predictive, forward-looking intelligence - while also rolling up your sleeves on core FP&A cycles.  Above all, this is a role for someone with real energy around finance - creative, eager, curious - who is ready to challenge and push the Finance function forward rather than simply execute.  This role will play an instrumental role in the Augment Risk finance function as it scales.

The ideal candidate brings working knowledge of financial planning, data analytics, and business intelligence, alongside energy, creativity, curiosity, and drive.  They pair an exceptional ability to distill complex datasets into insights and outcomes, with strong financial instincts and hands-on technical capabilities, comfort with the everyday FP&A work as much as the higher-profile insight work, and a collaborative mindset that delivers in a dynamic environment.

This role provides a rare opportunity to help architect how a high-growth, entrepreneurial organization leverages data as a strategic advantage, while playing a foundational role in building and scaling a modern finance function - with the latitude to bring fresh thinking, push senior leadership, and grow quickly alongside the business.

Responsibilities:

Insight Generation & Strategic Analysis:

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses into business performance, customer behavior, and operational efficiency to surface trends, anomalies, and opportunities that inform strategic priorities.
  • Develop predictive models and scenario analyses that anticipate future business needs, enabling proactive decision-making.
  • Transform complex datasets into clear, compelling visualizations and narratives that make insights accessible and actionable for diverse audiences.

Finance Analytics & Business Intelligence Infrastructure:

  • Design and implement scalable data analytics framework and reporting tools that enable real-time visibility into business performance and trends.
  • Work with aggregated data sources from multiple systems (FP&A platforms, accounting systems, CRM, operational databases) to create unified views of business performance.
  • Support core FP&A tasks, contributing analytical rigor and insights across traditional management reporting activities.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Decision Enablement:

  • Work closely with senior leadership to identify key business questions, design analytical frameworks to address them, and deliver findings that influence executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely across the organization ensure seamless integration between financial models and analytical insights, creating a unified view of business performance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to key leaders across sales, operations, product, and marketing, delivering data-driven recommendations that shape resource allocation and strategic initiatives.

Automation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting processes across finance and sales analytics.  Build automated reporting solutions that reduce manual effort and accelerate the delivery of insights to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Build repeatable analytical frameworks that increase organizational bandwidth and reduce reliance on ad hoc data pulls.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate insight generation, automate recurring analytical tasks, and enhance the quality and speed of financial modelling and reporting.
  • Continuously improve systems utilization to unlock greater value from existing technology investments.
  • Evaluate and implement reporting tools to improve insight scalability.

Data-Driven Culture & Capability Building:

  • Champion a data-first mindset across the organization, ensuring proper treatment of data and empowering teams to leverage analytics in their day-to-day decision-making and strategic planning.

Experience:

  • 4-8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial data analytics, or business intelligence, with demonstrated success in translating data into business impact.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders through compelling insights, with a track record of driving decisions and outcomes through financial analysis.
  • The capacity to bring intellectual curiosity and a genuine point of view to every conversation, and to introduce and carry through new ideas.
  • Demonstrated hands-on technical expertise with a 'builder' mentality.  Able to design solutions from scratch, troubleshoot issues, and deliver results in ambiguous environments.  Actively leverages AI tools (LLMs, AI-assisted coding, analytics copilots) as a core part of their toolkit.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into strategic recommendations for diverse audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for experimentation, continuous learning, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with data.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively across a broad remit.  Equally comfortable contributing to core FP&A cycles as to advanced analytics and insights work; thrives in lean, high-ownership environments where scope is dynamic.
  • Strong collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with finance, sales, operations, and technology teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
