RegScale is a continuous controls monitoring (CCM) platform purpose-built to deliver fast and efficient GRC outcomes. We help organizations break out of the slow and expensive realities that plague legacy GRC tools by bridging security, risk, and compliance through controls lifecycle management. By leveraging CCM, organizations experience massive process improvements like 90% faster certification times, and 60% less audit prep time. Today’s expansive security and compliance requirements can only be met with a modern, CCM based approach, and RegScale is the leader in that space.

Position:

As Financial Controller, you’ll be a founding member of our finance team, driving effective, efficient, and mature financial operations. Whether directly closing monthly books, managing internal and external reporting, monitoring transactions and cash flow, or analyzing areas for improved efficiencies, you’ll drive financial discipline and insights across all areas of the business. You’ll be a key stakeholder in supporting major growth initiatives, including the introduction of new products and partnerships as well as international expansion. In a high-growth environment where adaptability and proactivity are key, you'll help us scale smartly while maintaining a strong financial backbone.

This role is ideal for a very hands-on finance leader who thrives in high-growth, fast-moving environments with a “do it yourself” attitude and who is eager to help shape the financial future of a category-defining company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements under GAAP.
    • Complete internal and investor financial reporting and deliver actionable insights to leadership and investors.
    • Develop financial dashboards to track SaaS metrics (e.g., ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, burn efficiency).
  • Planning, Budgeting, & Forecasting
    • Act as a key stakeholder for the company-wide budgeting process and ongoing forecasting.
    • Partner with department heads to align financial goals with operational strategies and true outcomes.
    • Support long-term financial planning, including scenario modeling.
    • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure runway visibility and capital efficiency.
  • Controls, Compliance & Risk Management
    • Manage, process, and execute all AR and AP requirements.
    • Implement scalable accounting policies, internal controls, and financial systems.
    • Ensure compliance with tax filings, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and similar other requirements.
    • Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
  • Program Building & Leadership
    • Cultivate a culture of financial accountability throughout the organization.
    • Evaluate and implement various financial systems to support scaling.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, including 2+ years in a financial leadership role.
  • Experience with high-growth enterprise SaaS companies.
  • Expert understanding of GAAP and SaaS KPIs.
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidation and international operations.
  • Hands-on experience with financial technology systems (including, but not limited to ERP, banking, billing, and tax software), and enthusiasm about adopting finance-specific AI tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Who You Are:

  • Builder: You enjoy setting up and managing scalable processes and improving what exists.
  • Strategic: You see the big picture but can dive deep into the details when needed.
  • Startup-Ready: You’re adaptable, thrive in ambiguity, and are excited about rolling up your sleeves.
  • Collaborative: You work cross-functionally with transparency and strong communication.
  • Honest: You’re a trustworthy partner and steward of company funds.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
