We are currently looking for a talented, highly-motivated, Senior Accountant, who will be responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, assisting with Accounts Payable and bookkeeping, annual audits and tax returns, and other required financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will report to our Controller.

This is an ideal position for an experienced, senior accountant who will be responsible for the monthly financial close process and contribute insights on our financial performance. Experience working at a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus; strong quantitative skills are a must. The ideal candidate must be comfortable in a dynamic start-up environment and has strong accounting skills to produce monthly reports and help us prioritize and manage expenses across the organization.

You Will:

• Prepare journal entries and supporting documents according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures and prepare respective financial reports, including reconciliations of various G/L accounts
• Control over bank feeds and daily banking transactions
• Have ownership of sales tax reconciliations and discrepancy resolution
• Take ownership of appropriate month- and quarter-end accruals
• Review of account reconciliations by the Associate Accountant (Banking, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, AP, etc)
• Research and review all discrepancies
• Analyze and perform first review of monthly and quarterly financial statements
• Prepare budget versus actual comparisons on monthly and quarterly basis
• Present financial statements to Controller and VP of Finance, noting items of concern or significant variance to expectations
• Recommend improvements to current accounting processes to enhance and streamline department
• Prepare documentation and other necessary information as required for completion of financial audits
• Work with Controller to identify areas of financial and control risk and devise plan to correct
• Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary

You Have:

• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Accounting/Finance, preferably Audit or Accounting team of a media/tech or ecommerce start-up
• Deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); prior experience working with QuickBooks or other accounting software
• Proficient in Microsoft excel (including pivot tables, sumifs, vlookups, tables, etc)
• High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines
• Creative and curious, able to develop new and innovative solutions to complex problems
• Ability to thrive and be highly effective in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, with competing priorities
• CPA preferred; Ecommerce or marketplace business experience also a plus
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both written and verbal
