Global Payroll Compliance Manager

The Finance Team includes Finance Business Partnership, Accounting, Finance Operations, Financial Systems, Internal Audit, Tax, Treasury, and Investor Relations teams. Together, the team partners with leadership to provide insights, information, and guidance to make strategic and operational decisions, inform investors about our business model and progress, and ensure the company is financially healthy and consistently meeting our reporting obligations.
The Global Payroll Compliance Manager will possess the experience and desire to determine the root cause of problems and issues, drive to evaluate and improve processes, and work collaboratively across multiple functions to improve the customer experience and adhere to compliance regulations and best practices. The incumbent will analyze and evaluate systems and/or processes and functional requirements, recommend and implement changes to business processes.
What you’ll do:
Partner directly with Payroll, HR and business teams to analyze and document problems, recommend solutions, initiate corrective actions
Perform in-depth investigations and analysis to determine the root cause of repeated problems to identify gaps and continuous improvement opportunities
Identify, recommend and prioritize improvements to the customer experience, as well as internal process improvements and work with appropriate internal & external partners to implement
Document payroll processes and procedures with the ability to suggest best practices and opportunities for improvements
Represent payroll as subject matter expert during cross-functional projects, M&A activity support, and coordination of requirements gathering, solution development and the implementation of the final product/service
Demonstrate expertise in payroll business processes and understand assigned and cross functional areas.
Identify opportunities for increasing business efficiency through improved manual and automated processes.
Coordinate third party payroll system implementations and upgrades – verify and evaluate changes
Coordinate the development of comprehensive business cases with cost, service, and benefit dimensions for proposed projects. These documents drive executive decisions
Consult on the integration of systems into the Workday environment and recommend specific change management opportunities related to payroll processes
Serve as an escalation point for issues related to tax and compliance.
Lead the International team in the review and compliance of pay and tax records for international employees.
Oversee and lead the self-assessment testing of payroll SOX controls.
Ensure tax and compliance processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations, expats, and mobile employees are compliant and timely.
Provide support for the International statutory audits and periodic internal audits.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Strong understanding of general HR & Payroll wage and hour laws, payroll tax laws, functions, and processes
Payroll experience in US, Canada, EMEA region, with the capacity to learn other countries
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Google tools
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to research, compile and develop clear, accurate reports and associated documentation to facilitate effective decision making
Experience with Workday and ADP preferred
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of Payroll/Payroll tax and/or HRIS Analyst experience
10+ years of overall Payroll experience, preferably in a multinational company
