The Strategy and Corporate Development team is a growing and dynamic team responsible for the development of our long-term corporate strategy and leading transactions that allow us to deliver on that strategy. 


As Director, Strategy and Corporate Development, you will play an important role in expanding the department and enabling us to meet our growth objectives and execute upon our strategy. You will achieve these goals by partnering with the leadership team to define our corporate development framework and leading all aspects of our corporate development initiatives (e.g. strategic rationale, financial analysis, diligence, negotiation, process execution, etc.). 

What you'll do:

  • In partnership with executive and department leadership teams, establish corporate development strategy and M&A framework to support overall organizational goals
  • Lead development of investment theses across the consumer finance landscape including strategic fit and attractiveness for our business (e.g. thematic trends, competitive dynamics, asset positioning and growth potential, synergy definition & quantification, operational requirements, financial modeling, and valuation)
  • Build and manage the Corporate Development function as the department scales 
  • Source M&A, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and other strategic opportunities (“Strategic Transactions”) to drive Corporate Development strategy
  • Lead analysis, financial forecasting, valuation modeling, and structural deal components for Strategic Transactions 
  • Lead negotiation of transaction terms and documentation, working closely with cross-functional teams (advisors, department leads, legal, accounting, etc.)
  • Lead cross-functional teams to complete due diligence and integration planning 
  • Build content to support a variety of strategy and M&A process work streams, including investment performance and other related reporting, board and executive meeting presentations, corporate planning activities, competitive analysis briefs/reports, other high-visibility materials involving C-suite internal stakeholders
  • Prioritize hiring, developing, and mentoring the team to ensure we have the roles and skill sets that we need to support company goals; with a commitment to inclusivity, diversity and employee engagement

What you'll need:

  • 10+ years of experience and a strong record of accomplishment in top-tier strategy consulting, investment banking, growth and/or private equity and/or corporate strategy and corporate development
  • Experience in consumer finance, financial services, or consumer internet industries preferred
  • Demonstrated profound understanding of corporate strategy, M&A, and transaction process execution
  • Experience with people management and demonstrated ability to build, manage, develop, and motivate a team
  • Ownership mindset: ability to take the initiative and leverage resources to drive successful outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills: the ability to break down complex problems into critical parts, identify the key causes and effectively prioritize and execute way forward
  • Strong critical thinking skills: ability to assimilate and understand new concepts in short time frames
  • Exceptional analytical skills: the ability to logically and systematically visualize and efficiently tackle tasks; understanding and mastery of tools and methods to effectively support the Strategy and M&A process
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to positively influence outcomes and ability to work across functions and levels of seniority
  • Highly organized, excellent project management abilities
