What we are looking for…

We are looking for an experienced Controller with a deep understanding of financial and managerial accounting that will be responsible for managing all accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful, detail-oriented person looking to build and implement a scalable and efficient department structure. This person will develop internal control policies and procedures as needed. This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to work with the head of each division on a regular basis. More importantly, you will do so in a fun and creative environment where everyone’s voice is heard.

What you'll do...

• Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, property-management accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
• Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
• Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
• Lead the constant evolution of accounting operations, identifying areas of improvement, offering recommendations, and implementing new processes
• Continuously assess internal governance and control systems
• Measure the effectiveness of accounting software, systems, and supporting databases, as needed
• Oversee payments for all corporate and property-level expenses; ensuring all accounts are paid on time
• Cash flow management
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual, financial reports
• Support Strategic Finance with the development of monthly, quarterly and annual, budgets and forecasts, for all departments
• Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors
• Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices
• Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, payroll, and reporting
• Ensuring company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements

What you'll bring...

• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting
• Masters in business or accounting, CPA or CA, preferred but not required
• A minimum of 5+ years of management experience in accounting 
• A minimum of 2-5 years of hospitality / real estate experience preferred but not required
• Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation (experience in NetSuite required)
• Experience with accounting for multiple locations / departments within a consolidated framework preferred but not required
• Experience with Salesforce and Bill.com preferred but not required
• Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members
• Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
