What we are looking for…

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Director with a deep understanding of property management accounting and financial operations and analysis and will be a significant contributor within AvantStay’s back-office infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful, detail-oriented person looking to maintain strong financial and managerial property management accounting standards, develop internal control policies and procedures, and work cross-functionally on a regular basis. More importantly, you will do so in a fun and creative environment where everyone’s voice is heard.

What you’ll do…

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of AvantStay’s property management agreements and homeowner relationships to ensure proper accounting and timely responsiveness in supporting financial operations and analysis
• In partnership with cross-functional groups, manage the accounting and financial operations aspects of AvantStay’s property management M&A activity. This will include evaluating subject property management contracts, business operations, and homeowner relationships, collaborating with cross-functional teams on executing successful onboarding and post-transaction implementation, and contributing to developing and sustaining operational best practices.
• Manage all aspects of AvantStay’s property management accounting including general ledger maintenance, revenue recognition, billing and expenses, tax compliance, budgeting, and treasury and be a significant contributor within the homeowner reporting process. 
• Have strong knowledge of AvantStay’s ERP system and other financial and operational systems and databases, suggest refinements and efficiency opportunities, and effectively leverage all
• In partnership with AvantStay’s cross-functional groups, gain an understanding of current processes and internal controls, suggest and implement refinements, and monitor execution to ensure timely and accurate financial and managerial accounting standards.
• Understand applicable regulatory requirements and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
• Execute a variety of special projects within the accounting, financial operations, and financial analysis disciplines

What you’ll bring…

• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.
• Master’s in business or accounting, CPA or CA, preferred but not required
• A minimum of 6+ years of management experience in accounting 
• A minimum of 2-5 years of hospitality / real estate experience preferred but not required
• Public accounting experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation (experience in NetSuite preferred but not required)
• Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Able to collaborate well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members
• Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
