SUMMARY

  • Responsible for the safe set-up, operation, and cleaning of a Spin Weld machine to produce a quality product according to quality control standards and product specifications.

  • Responsible for slotting well casing pipe to customer specifications for well screens.

  • Slot pipe of all classes for underdrain pipe.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must work safely and maintain a safe, clean work environment, and perform available work as required by the supervisor.

  • Must do complete setups and changeovers.

  • Must maintain the saw blades, bearings, and shafts to keep them in good working order.

  • Must operate a forklift to bring in required pipe from the storage for each other.

  • Must clean and wash each lift after slotting.

  • Must clean the area and keep it free from dust on the ground.

  • Must follow all safety JSAs, LOTO, policies, OPLs, and procedures.

  • Must be able to safely inspect equipment prior to use, make simple adjustments, and shut down the spin weld machine and fabrication saw as required by the daily schedule.

  • Must be able to read, operate, and understand all controls and warning devices along with cutting riser pipe and spin welding caps and Nelson fittings on riser pipe.

  • Must keep piece count and perform detailed and accurate record-keeping on the computer system or on paper as required.

  • Must be able to clear out plastic from the end of pipe after it is cut, ensure pipe is free from chips and cracks.

  • Must inspect pipe for before and after spin weld process is performed and check piece before adding it to finished inventory.

  • Must be to keep count and package finished pipe according to instructions

  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to perform repetitive movements through shift.

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand and use a calculator, micrometer, tape measure, calipers, and O.D. tape. 

  • This job requires frequent lifting and/or carrying of 0-50 lbs. as well as standing or walking most of each work shift.  Also requires frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, and handling. 

  • Must be able to work in very hot conditions in summer, cold conditions in winter and dusty from pipe slotting. 

  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, a bump cap, and safety shoes.

  • Must be able to understand, read, and write English.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay range for this position is $23.41 to $30.03 per hour. This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
