Boeing Global Services has a dynamic, high visibility and impact opportunity for an Engineering Leader in Long Beach, CA to advance new engineering capabilities. The initial primary project will be the development of FAA STC capability for Commercial Modifications, championing a culture shift through a leadership team of SMEs, gaining advocacy from across Business Units, Enterprise ODA Leadership and alignment with the FAA on a change for BGS processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with Business Development, Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and all Engineering Functions to redefine what it means to be competitive for Commercial Modifications. This position will also ensure integration and alignment with Europe and Brazil teams on common standards and approaches across STC offerings.

Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the development of FAA STC capability and other new engineering and certification capabilities.

- Primary responsibility will be to lead the development of the FAA STC capability, addressing technical gaps, risks, and opportunities
- Integrate new certification processes and product offering into existing modification teams and processes
- Validate the new processes through multiple pathfinder projects, ensuring Broad Experienced Engineering philosophy is applied
- Meet with regulators to advance approval of new procedures
- Keep stakeholders (VP Engineering/ Program leadership and regulators) apprised of the progress, learnings and decisions of the projects in your portfolio
- Close integration and alignment with Europe and Brazil teams on common standards and approaches across STC offerings
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
- Manages, develops and motivates employees

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
- 1+ years of experience working with the following FAA certified derivative aircraft element: Supplemental Type Certification (STC)
- 1+ years of experience working with industry service documents for commercial airplanes such as Service Letters, Service Bulletins, or Maintenance Manuals
- Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time both domestically and Internationally
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team
- Knowledge of Boeing's organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation
- Experience working with regulators such as the FAA and/or a delegated ODA Office
- Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment
- Experience presenting to executive level leadership
