Senior Product Manager

The role / impact

As a Senior Product Manager leading the developer platform and AI team, you will take ownership of the evolution of Xero’s developer ecosystem. You will lead the charge in transforming the platform to empower developers to launch both traditional API-driven and AI-native integrations, ensuring our marketplace remains a world-class destination for innovation.

Your work will involve navigating complex product spaces and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of products, from initial research through to implementation and continuous improvement. By collaborating across engineering, design, and marketing, you will drive the strategy that allows our ecosystem of over 1,000 apps to provide immense value to millions of small businesses.

The team / how they connect

The Ecosystem team is a vibrant, cross-functional group based across Australia and New Zealand that manages the developer platform and marketplace. While the team primarily works flexibly with no absolute requirement to be in the office, they value meaningful connection and come together in person at least twice a year to collaborate and align on their vision.

The team is currently working on / Initially, you will focus on

• Leading the metamorphosis of the developer platform to support the rapid advancements in generative AI and AI-native development.

• Scaling a robust B2B API platform that currently connects over 3 million small businesses with a diverse range of third-party applications.

• Driving 0 to 1 product initiatives to create deep, scalable product experiences within the Xero platform.

• Managing and evolving a tech stack focused on high-performance APIs and integrated developer tools.

This role is based in Melbourne, Australia, offering the flexibility of our modern office space or the ability to work remotely. We embrace a flex-work approach with no fixed office days, though we have hubs in key cities across Australia and New Zealand for those who prefer an office environment.

Here are some of the things we are looking for

• You will bring a technical background, perhaps from a previous career as an engineer, which helps you deeply understand the developer persona.

• Your experience includes successfully launching AI products or working directly with AI-native development in a live market.

• You possess a natural ability to manage complex platform products within mid-to-large scale organisations.

• Bringing an entrepreneurial mindset, you are resourceful and comfortable making things happen by collaborating across many different teams.

• You have a track record of shaping successful product roadmaps and influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.

• Your growth mindset and strong product instincts allow you to learn quickly and move forward from setbacks with positive energy.
