CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within NASA, NOAA, and the NNSA, while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values, and behaviors. Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division and Civil Space Operation's Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight and deep space exploration program office activities.
We are looking for an Exploration Science, Technology Utilization & Integration (STUI) Technology Expert (Senior Project Engineer- Systems Engineering). This role will provide strategic integration to NASA's Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD) in support of Science, Technology Utilization and Integration (STUI) content across the NASA agency. STUI is responsible for science coordination; integration of utilization of science, payloads, and technology across mission directorates, including knowledge decomposition; capabilities integration across mission directorates, including defining and managing technology gaps and priorities for ESDMD; and integration of data with ESDMD Moon to Mars office, including defining and managing data gaps and priorities and leading the Strategy and Architecture Office's representation to the Artemis Geospatial Data Team.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in Houston, TX located at the Johnson Space Center, Washington, D.C. located at NASA HQ, Greenbelt, MD located at Goddard Space Flight Center, or El Segundo, CA. This is an onsite work model that combines 4 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.

What You'll Be Doing
- Define, characterize and prioritize architecture-driven technology gaps to support human exploration priorities.
- Lead assessment of potential architectural decisions/trade options.
- Perform capability and technology assessments to quantify the benefits of advanced technologies on system performance and figures of merit (FOMs).
- Understand the state of technology areas and integrate between architecture and technology subject matter experts to solve architecture challenges.
- Lead coordination of Life Support and Crew Health and Performance gap data.
- Present results of work to agency leaders, team leads, and technology development community.
- Identify breakthrough capabilities scanning NASA internal and external technology development activities
What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer - Systems Engineering
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program in a scientific or engineering field
- 10 years or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering and/or scientific experience, including experience in data integration
- Experience serving as integration leader and/or coordinator of a team of technical contributors.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle and system integration processes
- Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels
- Ability to work in a quick-paced, small core team that leads technical discussions across a large technical community and influence teams across the NASA enterprise
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Master's degree or PhD in engineering, science, or another related STEM discipline
- More than 15 years of experience within NASA programs
- Experience leading highly technical NASA teams
- Familiarity with requirements development of NASA spacecraft systems
- Experience performing or leading technical and programmatic tasks for NASA
