Position Summary

Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a Mandarin–English Bilingual EV Sales & Customer Engagement Specialist to join our AFEELA team in Los Angeles, based out of Torrance, CA. This customer-facing role is critical in delivering a premium, end-to-end ownership journey—from first interaction through purchase and long-term brand engagement.

You’ll take ownership of the full sales cycle while creating luxury-level experiences at our studios, roadshows, and events. Your fluency in both Mandarin and English will allow you to engage Mandarin-speaking customers seamlessly while ensuring alignment with English-speaking internal teams. Every interaction you lead will reflect AFEELA’s innovation, hospitality, and brand excellence.

This opportunity is ideal for a proven sales closer with experience in premium automotive, luxury retail, or high-end technology—and who is passionate about EVs and cross-cultural customer engagement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct personalized product presentations, studio appointments, and test drives for customers in both Mandarin and English.
  • Manage the complete sales lifecycle: lead generation, needs assessment, proposals, negotiation, purchase coordination, delivery, and post-delivery follow-up.
  • Represent SHMA at customer studios, activations, and roadshows, ensuring all touchpoints deliver a luxury and culturally attuned experience.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline records and sales activities in the CRM; execute timely follow-ups and achieve personal sales/KPI targets.
  • Serve as a trusted AFEELA expert, able to explain EV features, charging, and connected services clearly in both languages.
  • Drive customer loyalty through onboarding, service coordination, check-ins, and invitations to exclusive brand events.
  • Share Mandarin-speaking customer insights with cross-functional teams to improve sales strategies and brand experiences.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of studio and event spaces, ensuring they are always presentation-ready.
  • High performers may be considered for lead-track opportunities, including mentorship and elevated responsibilities.

Required Qualifications for Position

  • 2–5 years of success in premium automotive, luxury retail, or high-tech sales, with a record of consistently meeting/exceeding targets.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English, both verbal and written; proven ability to explain complex technology across both languages.
  • Strong consultative sales skills and full-cycle experience (qualification → demo/test drive → close → delivery → follow-up).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Frequent travel required across Southern California (Torrance, Beverly Hills, Culver City, San Diego) and occasional statewide travel.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and productivity tools (Microsoft Office / Google Workspace).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications for Position

  • EV sales or direct-to-consumer automotive sales experience.
  • Background in luxury or premium experiential brands.
  • Experience with studio operations, customer roadshows, or event activations.

Additional Details

  • Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site in Torrance, CA, with frequent travel to other California locations listed above.
  • Role Structure: We are considering full-time and part-time hires from the same candidate pool. Lead-track opportunities based on performance.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this position.
  • Confidentiality: Your application will be treated as strictly confidential.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Flexible Working Policy
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401k Program
  • “Take What You Need” time off policy, with a minimum of 15 days off per year, and holiday breaks
  • Yearly bonuses (subject to eligibility)
  • Company phone (subject to eligibility)
  • Company swag
  • A brand new laptop and monitor
  • Special discounts on Sony products
  • Learning and Development quarterly stipend

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
