ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a Senior SAP S/4HANA Solution Architect – Order to Cash (O2C) to own the end-to-end design and architecture of Slate’s sales, vehicle ordering, customer fulfillment, and pricing processes as part of the company’s migration from NetSuite to SAP S/4HANA.

Reporting to Slate’s Head of ERP Systems, this role serves as the internal counterpart to our implementation partner’s Solution Architect and is accountable for establishing the long-term SAP Order-to-Cash design strategy. The successful candidate will lead the architecture, configuration direction, and process design for SAP Sales & Distribution (SD), Variant Configuration (VC), Vehicle Management System (VMS), Pricing, Customer Master Data, Logistics Execution, and integration points with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Dealer/Retail Operations.

As the senior functional authority for Order-to-Cash, this individual will ensure that SAP design decisions support organizational growth, customer experience, revenue recognition requirements, and efficient order fulfillment execution across the enterprise. This is a permanent product team role, not a project-based assignment. The selected candidate will help launch the initial SAP S/4HANA platform and then own the ongoing evolution of Order-to-Cash capabilities for years to come.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the automotive, electric vehicle, or discrete manufacturing industries, particularly those with expertise in SAP Vehicle Management System (VMS) and SAP Variant Configuration (VC/Advanced Variant Configuration).

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Lead the design and implementation of SAP S/4HANA SD solutions across sales, distribution, customer fulfillment, and vehicle sales processes.

  • Define end-to-end solution architecture aligned with enterprise business requirements and SAP best practices.

  • Provide functional leadership for SAP SD, VMS, and VC-related projects, assessments, enhancements, and transformation initiatives.

  • Drive standardization, process simplification, and adoption of SAP S/4HANA capabilities.

  • Establish scalable architecture supporting direct-to-consumer, dealer, fleet, and aftermarket business models.

  • Lead design decisions for integrated customer, order, vehicle, and fulfillment processes.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of SAP OTC experience, including multiple full lifecycle SAP implementations.

  • 3+ years of SAP S/4HANA solution architecture experience.

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Green field implementation or transformation programs.

  • Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain business processes.

  • A clear, defensible point of view on clean-core and fit-to-standard design, with the credibility to serve as the implementation partner's counterpart and hold the line against unnecessary customization.

  • Experience writing functional specifications, leading finance-side user acceptance testing, and partnering with implementation partners and IT through go-live and stabilization.

  • Familiarity with SOX requirements for finance systems, ideally in a pre-IPO or recently public-company environment.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment building a system rather than maintaining one.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
