Job Description

About the Role:

As an ERP MDM Specialist at Takeda, you’ll help maintain the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of enterprise resource planning (ERP) master data that supports our supply chain operations. You’ll play an important role in maintaining item master and item branch data, bills of materials (BOMs), planning parameters, and other critical information used to support material availability, production planning, and inventory management.

Working closely with cross-functional partners, you’ll help ensure master data is maintained in accordance with established standards and change-management processes. You’ll also contribute to reporting, analytics, process improvement, and initiatives that strengthen ERP functionality and supply chain performance.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your master data expertise, analytical skills, and continuous-improvement mindset while contributing to future ERP transformation initiatives.

How You Will Contribute:
  • Maintain and support global master data standards, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of ERP information.
  • Create and maintain item master records and branch-specific data, including required field setup, raw material records, and the review or deactivation of obsolete materials.
  • Maintain bill of materials (BOM) structures and associated records to support manufacturing requirements and applicable branch plant standards.
  • Review active BOMs and related master data to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
  • Support material and production planning activities by maintaining planning parameters, standardized forecast and master production schedule (MPS) uploads, and planning schedules across branch plants.
  • Support material requirements planning (MRP) activities and help maintain the integrity of planning processes and related ERP data.
  • Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures for master data and BOM creation, maintenance, and changes.
  • Ensure master data documentation and changes follow applicable procedures and relevant compliance requirements, including SOX and GMP requirements where applicable.
  • Analyze master data and supply chain information to identify data-quality concerns, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and support reports, metrics, and dashboards that provide insight into master data quality and supply chain performance.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Finance, Production Planning, Material Planning, and other stakeholders to support accurate data and effective supply chain processes.
  • Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives, ERP functionality enhancements, and future system or process transformation activities.
  • Use available ERP applications and reporting tools, which may include JD Edwards, SAP, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar technologies, to support master data maintenance, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with at least 5 years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of related experience. A degree in science, engineering, business, operations, supply chain, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience in master data management, ERP systems, supply chain operations, material management, production planning, inventory control, or a related operational discipline.
  • Understanding of ERP master data, bills of materials (BOMs), planning parameters, inventory control, and material or product flow.
  • Experience maintaining data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze data and process issues, investigate discrepancies, solve problems, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Familiarity with material requirements planning (MRP), master production schedules (MPS), forecast uploads, and material or production planning processes.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, document changes, and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain data integrity and support controlled change management.
  • Experience with JD Edwards (JDE), SAP, or another enterprise resource planning platform is an asset.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools for data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development is an asset.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or another regulated manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, collaboration, and continuous-improvement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and contribute to process improvements beyond routine data maintenance.

Important Considerations:

  • This position is based at Takeda’s Los Angeles, California site and requires 100% on-site attendance. This is not a hybrid or remote position.
  • The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexibility in start and end times based on business needs. Earlier or later schedules may be accommodated when work requirements and scheduled hours are met.
  • The role supports supply chain activities connected to manufacturing operations and requires collaboration with teams across Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Production Planning, and Material Planning.
  • Master data changes must be handled carefully and documented in accordance with established procedures and applicable company requirements, including relevant SOX and GMP requirements.
  • Responsibilities may include supporting process improvements, reporting needs, ERP system enhancements, and future system-transition activities as business requirements evolve.
  • Occasional work outside standard business hours and business-related travel may be required, depending on operational needs.
  • The position involves a combination of sedentary office work and walking through facility areas to observe conditions. The ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 10 pounds is required.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
