Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Out of Production Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Fleet Support organization has a great opportunity for a Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Design & Analysis Engineer (Experienced, Senior or Principal) to join our team in Seal Beach, CA.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the safety and reliability of the Out of Production (OoP) fleet. The OoP ECS Design Engineering (DE) team is dedicated to providing exceptional compliance and technical support, driving initiatives such as Boeing design, certification, the Continued Operation Safety Program (COSP) and addressing Service Related Problems (SRP). As part of our commitment to operational excellence, this position may require some travel, allowing you to engage directly with our fleet and contribute to our mission of maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance. This position offers the chance to support one or more systems within ECS, including CACTCS systems, Low Pressure Systems and analysis, EE Cooling, and Ice and Rain Protection Systems. Position Responsibilities
  • Requirements Traceability & Development Assurance
  • Supports development and documentation of Environmental Control System analysis and architecture (air conditioning, air distribution, cabin pressure control, equipment cooling, cargo fire protection, nitrogen generating system, ice/rain protection, etc.)
  • System Safety Analysis Documentation, including the creation of Fault Hazard
  • Assessments (FHAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis
  • Assesses complex system events to determine potential safety issues, utilizing airplane function integration at the system and component level
  • Contributes to development of hardware, software, and system performance requirements, as well as supplier qualification of these components and systems
  • Works directly with airline customers and airplane component suppliers to ensure effective system integration and customer satisfaction

Work Authorization:
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 3+ years of experience working with or on an engineering team
  • 1+ years of experience working in a multi-disciplined Systems Engineering environment
  • Experience working in a cross functional team environment and have good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master's Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience being a team leader
  • 1+ years of experience with engineering disciplines related to aircraft Environmental Control Systems analysis, including compressible/incompressible fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, physical chemistry, systems engineering, and/or computational fluid dynamics
  • Direct experience with aircraft Environmental Control Systems analysis (air conditioning, air distribution, cabin pressure control, equipment cooling, cargo fire protection, nitrogen generating system, ice/rain protection, thermal analysis, computational fluid dynamics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Boeing design, certification, and engineering principles
  • Ability to work with multiple team functions
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience
  • Desire to continuously improve our airplanes

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range:
  • Experienced (Level 3): $111,350 - $150,650
  • Senior (Level 4): $135,150 - $182,850
  • Principal (Level 5): $165,750 - $224,250
