Job Description:

This is an opportunity to join HPE’s world-class Global Communications team. With scores of communicators across the globe, we advocate for HPE's corporate strategy, business innovation, and thought leadership.

We're looking for an experienced and strategic Enterprise Thought Leadership Program Management Lead to help scale HPE's enterprise thought leadership program, which is a key pillar of the Corporate & Financial Communications team designed to connect HPE within the most influential conversations shaping the technology industry.  This role sits at the intersection of communications, marketing, and business strategy and partners with external leading media organizations and event platforms. By showcasing HPE’s innovation, we position HPE as a leading voice on the trends transforming enterprise technology in the AI era, and work to enhance our company’s reputation, credibility, and business impact.

This is an ideal opportunity for a highly collaborative communicator who excels in shaping and managing operational aspects of a highly visible program. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrable leadership qualities who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys creating new structures and workflows, and can translate strategy into measurable business impact.

The successful candidate will work in a close-knit group of high-performing colleagues that offers many opportunities that add to overall career development. The candidate will continually collaborate with Global Communications and Marketing colleagues and connect across our business unit portfolio in networking, hybrid cloud, and AI to drive the implementation of 360-degree communications plans tied to HPE’s Enterprise Thought Leadership Program activations. The candidate will help support thought leadership activations, including by evaluating potential media partnerships, planning and budgeting for future sponsorships, coordinating messaging amplification strategies, event execution, and measuring and reporting on impacts and outcomes.

You’ll help us coordinate multiple elements of each thought leadership activation, centering on a 360 communications plan that relies heavily on internal alignment to engage executive stakeholders and manage media partners. You’ll do well in this role if you are a strategic thinker who is used to creating rigorous alignment agendas.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead program management aspects of our thought leadership activations
  • Manage execution with media partners, from planning and engagement to on-site execution and post-event follow-through—ensuring each moment is purposeful, differentiated, and maximizes targets for amplification and audience engagement
  • Drive 360-degree communications plans and amplification strategies that extend thought leadership across paid, earned, owned, and social channels to maximize HPE’s thought leadership activations with “beyond the moment” elements
  • Ensure each activation incorporates a go-to-market emphasis with customers and prospective customers by partnering with Global Marketing and Global Sales representatives
  • Lead budgeting aspects of the program, including evaluating sponsorship packages against return on investment targets, and tracking future partnership opportunities
  • Measure the impact of each thought leadership activation, helping define and track success across reach, engagement, influence, and pipeline outcomes, building a framework for thought leadership metrics.
  • Support collaboration efforts with executive communications leaders in Global Communications to identify and prepare executive speakers for thought leadership moments
  • Assist in managing new and existing media partner relationships on an ongoing basis
  • Onboard new partners to the program, partnering with HPE Finance and HPE Procurement

What you bring:

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to connect big ideas to business impact
  • Experience in B2B technology, communications, or marketing with a strong understanding of importance of amplification across diverse business-oriented audiences
  • Strength in partnering with colleagues across business units to support the development of thought leadership activations, amplified across channels
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to partner across highly matrixed teams
  • A bias for action—balancing strategy with hands-on execution to maximize impact

Education and Experience Required:

  • BA or BS in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Relations, English, Political Science, International Relations, or other Liberal Arts disciplines.
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, team member communications, program management, or marketing.
  • Previous program management and/or project management experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong organization and program management skills.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills - very minimal peer or manager edits needed.
  • Proficiency in presentation development.
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of communications methodologies, tools and vehicles.
  • Proven experience managing, leading, driving teams toward a common goal.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
