The Enterprise Architect defines and guides the technology architecture across Vatica + Cozeva, translating business priorities into standards, designs, and roadmaps that support secure, reliable, and cost-effective operations. The role connects cloud, infrastructure, networking, security, and emerging technologies into a coherent enterprise architecture.

This is a hands-on architecture leadership role requiring technical depth, independent judgment, and the ability to influence execution across teams. The Enterprise Architect advises leaders on technology investments and tradeoffs, guides modernization, and partners with Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and business owners to turn architectural decisions into implemented solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enterprise Architecture and Strategy: Define current and target architectures, reference designs, and modernization roadmaps aligned with business priorities. Assess dependencies, technical debt, risk, and cost to sequence investments and recommend practical paths forward.
  • Architecture Governance and Delivery: Lead architecture reviews for major initiatives. Maintain standards, decision records, and documented exceptions with accountable owners. Resolve design tradeoffs, escalate material risks, and guide delivery teams through implementation and validation.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture: Design Azure, AWS, and hybrid architectures, including landing zones, migrations, identity, connectivity, and cloud operating models. Establish patterns for availability, backup, recovery, and observability. Partner with operational owners to evaluate capacity, service performance, and cloud costs.
  • Network Design and Automation: Define infrastructure and network designs across virtualization, storage, containers, WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, and cloud connectivity. Guide segmentation, routing, firewall, and remote access designs. Advance reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns and automation to improve consistency and reduce manual work.
  • Security and Resilience: Partner with Security to incorporate Zero Trust, identity, privileged access, encryption, and threat modeling into designs. Translate applicable HIPAA obligations, HITRUST r2 requirements, SOC 2 Type II control needs, and NIST principles into architecture requirements. Address design risks and support validation of recovery and resilience capabilities.
  • AI and Emerging Technologies: Shape the technical architecture and adoption roadmap for AI with business and technology leaders. Evaluate use cases, platforms, models, agents, and integrations against business value, data needs, security, cost, and supportability. Partner with Security and Compliance on governance and safeguards, and guide approved solutions from evaluation through implementation.
  • Technical Leadership and Business Partnership: Present recommendations and tradeoffs to executive and board-level stakeholders as needed. Evaluate vendors and technology investments, mentor technical teams, and build agreement on standards and priorities across functions.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive technology experience, including 7+ years in architecture leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success developing enterprise architectures and guiding cloud transformation or modernization through implementation in complex environments.
  • Deep experience designing Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments, including migration, identity, networking, availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
  • Experience across enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, storage, backup, containers, and network architecture, including multiple data centers and cloud platforms.
  • Ability to incorporate security controls into architecture, including Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, multifactor authentication, privileged access management, federation, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Experience establishing architecture governance and reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  • Ability to evaluate AI and generative AI architectures, integration patterns, data protection needs, and operational risks.
  • Proven ability to explain technical and financial tradeoffs, influence decisions across teams, and maintain accountability through implementation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in a related field.

Experience in healthcare or another regulated environment, including architecture supporting HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC 2 requirements.

Experience implementing enterprise AI, machine learning, generative AI, or intelligent automation solutions.

Relevant architecture, cloud, security, or networking certification, such as TOGAF, SABSA, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, CCSP, or CCNP.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
